Messed up hard drive?

Well, someone posted about their hard drive being messed up and a "specialist" said the hard drive would have to be replaced. This was not so. Another thing that was stated is that it kept going through the boot cycle...if your pc can get to this place, hardware can be salvaged. You got ripped off. Theres a program that I would have used called DBAN (Darik's Boot and Nuke) which there are two different copies avaliable, one for a floppy disc and one for a cd.

This program is a brute force formatter that would have wiped your hard drive clean, but it would have saved it. Any viruses or worms could not have survived this program's wrath. Even though this is a wonderful program it's so powerful it can corrupt your hard drive, but it's not likely unless your hard drive is formatted in a FAT format.

So to answer you, I could have saved the hard drive, but all your information would be gone. It wouldn't have cost you anything except a little extra time reinstalling everything.

DBAN is a wonderful program but is only useful in situations of formatting. For it's task I give it a 9/10, but with everything considered this program is probably gonna be sitting around for a long time so I give this program a 6/10 overall. Check it out, I reccomend burning a copy to cd like I did.
