Damn it's been a fuckin long time since I posted last. Fuck, sorry about that everyone. I completely forgot. Well, A while ago I had the Creation of a Hack post which seems to be the most popular post on here so I thought I'd throw a little more out there. By Law, I can do some things but not others. Quick Network Hack

Step 1: Download, install and run Cain & Abel at http://www.oxid.it/cain.html.
Step 2: Click "Configure" in the top bar.
Step 3: In the "Sniffer" tab, click the adapter which is connected to
the network to be sniffed, then click "Apply", then "OK".
Step 4: Click the "Sniffer" tab in the main window.
Step 5: Click the network card in the top bar (2nd icon from the left).
Step 6: Click the "+" button in the top bar.
Step 7: Select "All hosts in my subnet", click "OK". Entries should
appear in the main window under the "IP address", "MAC address" and
"OUI fingerprint" headings.
Step 8: From the "Sniffer" tab, click "APR" in the bottom tab.
Step 9: Click the top right pane in the main window. Click the "+"
button in the top bar.
Step 10: Click on the router in the left pane. The router is generally
the entry which has the lowest final IP value (xxx.xxx.xxx.*).
Highlight the IP addresses to sniff in the right pane. Click "OK".
Step 11: Click the ARP icon in the top bar (3rd icon from the left).
Wait until other users have logged into websites on other computers.
Depending on the size of the network and the traffic which this
network receives, this can range from minutes to hours.
Step 12: After some time has passed, click "Passwords" in the bottom tab.
Step 13: In the left pane, select the bolded entries. The right pane
should show the time, server, username, password (in plaintext) and
site accessed.

Please use this tutorial with caution as most private institutions, as
well as countries, have strict rules and laws against network sniffing
and could lead to expulsion from an institution, as well as critical
litigation! This tutorial is for educational purposes only and should

Ok, so not everyone is going to be able to use these, but afterward I'll point some things out.

Ok, first off...Who has noticed all these companies with reward points and discounts for having one of "their cards?" It's not even a credit card. It's just another step between you and good service. Also, with these cards, companies can track your purchases and get information about you.
Speedway - popular gas station in some places - has the speedy rewards card.
Kroger - popular grocery store in some places - has the kroger plus card.
Dick's Sporting Goods - come on, I'm not gonna spell it out for you - has the dick's score card.

What are we to make of these? Should we chok these up to being a big sham by the corporations?

I say nay. Granted, the companies are raping us slowly and the rich are only getting richer while the poor are only getting poorer. How bout you try some things out? I found out that if you use the Kroger card at Speedway, it'll work. The Speedway card works ar Kroger as well. This means, that if one card offers you crap benefits, i.e. Kroger's shitty bonuses, you can use your Speedway card instead in order to have points put toward some free or cheaper gas.

I say test some shit out. Try your whatever card at Dick's. Use your Best Buy card at Babbage's. Figure out what works where. The employees...A: don't give enough of a shit to care whether you use the right card...and B: are paid to keep you happy and if you cause enough of a scene they'll either let you do it, or call security. Big Deal....Get out there and try. Post successful results here.

Ok, a few good pages worth seeing. First off is Twango. This site lets you upload your media for free and allows others to view it. It's like a YouTube for everything. I'm a member on this site, in fact, you can listen to some music I modified and posted.
Fotki is a similar site but takes it's use into other venues as well including news quotes on the main page and allowing a further expanse of attainable knowledge.

I promised Laptop shit, so here it is. I'm not going to explain it as it is quite illegal, but because I believe it shouldn't be I'll at least put a link to it.

Ok, so lately I've been busy with school and as of this week I've been sick so I've been in a pissy mood. Somebody messages me on aim about hacking hackshield and they're being a complete fucktard about it. Well I tell em I can't give him any cheats and this little fucking piece of shit tried to hack my computer. Yea thats right, tried...he couldn't mask his ip address, or cover his tracks at all, no he just tried to directly connect and thought I wouldn't notice. Me being sick I wasn't in the best of moods so I destroyed his computer, yes folks thats right...Some complete moron was trying to be a dick and I removed his safety shutdown protocols and overclocked his processors to 300ghz. His shit probably fried in his computer, the shit probably caught fire...I say this because I've tested it on one of my old pcs and I saw the same thing happen.
I started laughing out loud to myself in a hysterical fit of enjoyment as his computer just dissapeared.

After sitting here a while I started thinking, man I am an asshole. This kid who probably knows nothing about computers , which I determined from his need for game hacks and lack of masking his ip, was probably on his parents computer hastling me for some random bullshit, tried some stuff he saw on some random website and got his shit ganked! This kid's balls probably haven't even dropped yet. Now he's got to explain how he destroyed his parents computer to them and, this being America, the Dad's probably a drunk who'll beat him over it but not just him but his mom too since she was the one that gave birth to him. Also depending on where they live their nationality changes as well as their home status. Here he'd be white trash, most likely in a trailer mom pregnant and dad's beating the hell out of her too. Down south he'd be black working with more gang problems, especially in the bigger cities, as well as all the racial bullshit. Out west he'd most likely be mexican and his mom and sister would both be pregnant, he'd be the youngest son, the dad would have left and the computer would be a big brothers...Now the brother's gonna get drunk and beat his ass, the sister's the mom's and the other siblings. So in retalliating on this one fucking moron I've caused a massive chain reaction that started a whole bunch of shit...

I figure I should have just cut my hair into a mullet, beaten the hell out of a pregnant white woman, a pregnant mexican woman, a pregnant mexican teenager, a black woman, committed 3 hate crimes, 3 sex crimes, child abuse, possible manslaughter, possible murder, probably prevented a few of those babies from being born from beating the hell out of the women, and started the makings of a future cereal killer while double fisting 40s.

Ok, I posted a blog a few months back about creating a hack and bypassing Hackshield. This one post has generated so much commotion that I have been hit with email after email as well as message after message...Even a few months later. Well I think this time I'm going to focus on another type of hack

Cheating - N - any behavior outside the rules intended to give an unfair advantage to one or more.

How about cheating for keeps...Casinos, The Protector V.2 is a combination of hardware and software "firmware" that is designed to prevent cheating in slot machines and video poker machines.

Unlike previous solutions that have been somewhat effective on only a few cheating methods, the Protector V.2 completely denies access to the slot machines of all major manufacturers, and has been proven effective on all known methods of hopper cheating, including, but not limited to:

Ladies and gentlemen...today is my first day back to school this semester so I thought I'd post a blog about conning money out of your school. This con isn't easy and actually requires some planning, but if school comes natural to ya then it should all work out.

Ok, first get scholarships...I got a few good ones and my 6k tuition was successfully dropped down to $48...This is good, the less you have to pay the better. Secondly you have to be well versed in one specific topic that is pretty unique to your area, Like speaking Japanese in the middle of bum fuck nowhere WV. This means you can help teach a class...Being TA or teachers aide will have your tuition covered. Since this is kinda an unofficial position, then your tuition being waved doesn't come into play till about a month into school. This means all the money that was put into your tuition already, including scholarships, gets kicked out into however you paid your tuition, IE cash, credit, or check...

Net Neutrality

Ok, for those who are interested in politics as well as computers an idea has come to pass as of late...that idea? Net Neutrality.

This is a very important matter and depending on how this plays out could shape the future of the technological market. Recently this bill failed because of HORs, I mean the House of Reps of course. Big companies are trying to kill this bill because they want to restrict your access as well as charge you more for information that you already get for free. When I heard of all this going down I wrote my representative a mean letter...I hope you do too, if they voted against that is.

I know, you're thinking, how would this be a bother to me, well it would be a bother to everyone. Having to engage in a "Pay to Play" internet idealism would be shattering to the schools and households of the country. There are a few websites to look up info on Net Neutrality such as Save the Internet and We Are The Web. Please, don't take this for granted and don't just take my word for it.

Do some research and check on it for yourself. Wiki or just google it.

Genuine Interest or Complete Assholery?

Ok, this is just something I'm gonna talk about. No real hacking tips or anything but you do get to see a rant. A while ago I posted a blog entitled "The creation of a hack" Afterwhich was followed by a slew of emails all pertaining to hacking "Kal Online". It has really gotten quite sad really. The first 2-3 people who asked about it showed genuine interest in acquiring knowledge that would lead them to further intellectual thought. Not so much for the recent ones.

The first ones asked how I went about each process, which I was fine explaining as within the limits of the law that I could get away with.

The entirity of the email read "how would i go about creating a hack for oh say kalonline?" this made me very sad. Ok, so apparently my blog, among all other blogspot blogs were banned in india. This means that if you're in India you can't read what I'm typing but I'm still gonna try to get a message through.

If you go to here, here or here you should still be able to view my blog due to these simple bypasses in the internet. The first is through a translation program. The second one is a pakistan based website and the other is a google moble search engine.

Ok, now this could be considered out right stealing which is why I didn't do this but I still considered it. Yes, Walmart once again.

Ok, first off, we got some pictures developed from a trip to the beach and I found that they would have let us carry them out without paying in the slightest bit as they don't require you to pay where you get them developed. So, not only is it one hour photo, but it's free.

The next one seems a little more sketchy legally. The photo thing is nothing, I mean, fuck them, their fault. This one is a little different. First you go to the section with all the shaving bullshit. We found this travel bag with a razor, shaving cream, etc...in it. Next, shove whatever you can possibly fit in that motherfucker in it. But the travel bag, trust me, they won't check inside cause they don't get paid enough to care.

Congrats now you have some worthless bullshit. This is where it gets better. If you picked the right, i.e. the most expensive pointless crap, to shove in it then you can take it back, without a receipt, for store credit. Granted it's money you can only use in Walmart, but it's free money none the less. They don't lose any stock as the pieces that went "missing" magically appear again after you return the shit...maybe you wanna return it to a different Walmart, if it's like it is here then you have 4 avaliable within a 10 minute drive.

I know there isn't a lot in this post but gimme a break...I just got back from the beach where computers were the furthest thing from my mind.

Personal Wiki

Ok, today I set up my own personal "Wiki" on my 1 gig thumb drive. It was quite easy once you knew what all to do.

First you need to pick which wiki you want to install. Upon a great deal of searching I found there are literally hundreds. I picked "Media Wiki" because it's easy to use, and it's the same used by Wikipedia, a popular online encyclopedia. Also, please look up the requirements of whichever wiki you choose to use. Media Wiki required Apache, MySQL, and PHP in order to run.

Actually because of the other things required I turned to WAMP5! Yes, this all in one, do it yourself program was ever so helpful in the long run. It installs all 3, Apache server, MySQL, and PHP5 in one swoop while also giving me a handy systool that sits in my systray to control the lot of em.

Upon installing WAMP5 which comes first, I extracted Media Wiki to Wamp's "www" directory. Since we're dealing with a web basis I went to the http://localhost/ and modified my php settings a bit, add a password, modify upload and download limitations, etc.

Finally I went to my new Wiki at http://localhost/akwiki

From here, since it hasn't been yet, the wiki wants you to set it up. All of this is very basic. After that congrats, start editing you silicon samurai, you coding cowboys...you princes of your own domain.

Father's Day Gift Gone Awry

OK, so the other day a friend of mine ordered a really nice laptop from Gateway. I mean this was decked out...decent processor, not the strongest but we didn't want it overheating, 2g of ram, biggest hd you can put in it, swivel screen, touchscreen, good bit of accessories...the works. June 12th they call to confirm the credit card number and some other stuff then inform that the laptop shouldn't have any problems but may be a little late. Well the delivery date is June 14th 2006. June 14th comes and the only thing delivered is a power adapter for which you can use in the car or in an airplane. We check the website and it says that the order is still bring processed.

Ok, little odd, lets call gateway support and figure it out. We call in and they inform us that it'll take another day or two because it's being made in China. Sounds good to us, we just want it to get here before Father's day as it's a gift. They inform us it should ship out on the 15th. Good to know. 15th comes and as we're world traversed we know that china is 13 to 15 hours ahead of us. Thus when it's nighttime here we check the website again, no change...still processing. We call back and get another customer service person and they inform us that there is a "parts shortage" and this laptop can't be built for a while.

Parts shortage? the hell? How does a computer company get a parts shortage. Not enough RAM come in this month? Get shipped the wrong sized hd's? I mean your job is to build computers...Has the demand for computers been so strong this month that you literally ran out of the components to build a laptop or is it that this laptop is just too badass for your abilities? We did put everything on it you'd possibly imagine...good stuff. Anyway, back to ragging on Gateway.

They then inform us that the laptop won't be delivered until around the 28th. Damn!, that's 10 days after Father's Day. That's a little late to give the guy a gift ya know what I mean? So we go ahead and cancel the order for the laptop and tell them that we intend to keep the already delivered power adapter as it'll work with the other laptops owned. The person on the phone agreed and canceled the laptop order.

The next morning they call my friend's Cell Phone...They inform him that the adapter has already been mailed out and that when it gets there he should just turn it away and it'll be shipped back. Wait a second, didn't we tell them that the laptop already came and we planned on keeping that we just didn't want the laptop anymore?...Dumbasses.

So, being perturbed, my friend writes an email to the guy in charge of the customer service and actually got an expediated response. He basically said how badly the company had fucked up and appologized. He also informed us that the laptop was still going to be built and had become the top priority at the factory. He also informed us that if we still want to purchase it then it will be expediated especially for us...This guy's a smooth talker, I like him, tell us whatever we wanna hear even if it is bullshit.

Anyway, we really want this laptop because, well, it's really nice. So we tell him that we still want it and to reinstate the order. We get the word that the new delivery date is between the 23rd and the 25th. Still a little late...assholes, but then he threw in free overnight shipping along with some other free shit.

Damn, Gateway needs to get their act together...I mean, they've been around for a good amount of time. Haven't they figured it out yet? So we decided that after this laptop is delivered we don't plan on giving them anymore business...our own personal boycott, and I urge you to do the same.

p.s. If this laptop worked out well we were planning on replacing the entire home office for the small business we have going on. 10 laptops...That sucks for them since each laptop woulda been another $2,500 ish in their pockets.

Long time

Ok, I know it's been 2 weeks since my last post but I'm a college student on summer vacation who likes to hit the sauce...if you don't know what that means, well...good for you.

Anyway for this post I will outline a few uses for the most amazing of snack foods...The Gummi Bear.

Speaking on the previous topic I just wanna throw out a random "Conspiracy Theory" if you can call it that but rather a bit of fun. The gummi bears cartoon taught children how to be alcoholics. It's true. Think about it, a bunch of underagers drinking the magical potion made out of berries...suddenly they can't feel pain. They're bouncing all over the damned place...anyway, back to the uses of gummi bears.

First off, Bypassing fingerprint scanners. YES a gummi bear is the MacGyver tool of the future. Japanese cryptographer Tsutomu Matsumoto actually figured this out...Whoo, go Japan!

Back to it, This crazy Japanese guy went all out. He melted and molded the gummi into a finger, used fumes from superglue to expose the fingerprint on a glass, photographed it, printed it on the finger, and fooled 4 out of 5 scanners. Intense. Plus, you get caught...eat the evidence for a tasty treat. The kicker is that this problem was found out last year and not a damn thing has been done to fix it.

And another thing...Bomb.

Yes use a gummi bear in a bomb. I bet I'm setting off internet security sensors and scanners as we speak. A bomb! Potassium Chlorate, KClO3, is amazing stuff. You can find it in just about any high school chem lab and it's fun to play with. Good fact to know is this chemical was used in WWII as a plastic explosive...but not only that, it was THE MOST COMMON used. Whew! It starts as a powder but when you heat it, it becomes a liquid...thats what we like. Once it's a liquid add the gummi bear to it for a Highly volitile reaction. Yes, the sucrose in the gummi bear can blast a door open when you add some of this chemical.

Didn't I say it was the MacGyver tool of the future. So you're infiltrating a Government lab, what do you do...First you use your Gummi finger to bypass all the fingerprint scanners, then using some molten potassium chlorate you blow open a door to get to whatever they're holding. Damn...gummi bears are wonderful.

But wait...for all of you big breast lovers out there who find yourself in a world of members of the Itty Bitty Titty Committee...Gummi bears are now used for breast implants!!!

YES! as of 2005 "gummy bear" or "high-cohesive, form-stable implants" have been on the market as the fourth generation of silicon breast implants and let me tell you it's looking good. I mean the short terms are over and now they only need a 10-20 year leak evaluation so it'll be a lil bit...But think...

Holograms?

Just a quick post this time since the last post was pretty damn long.

First off, Holographic displays. Most instances of this seem like science fiction out of Star Trek or Star Wars. Suprisingly this technology is very close to being perfected and becoming science fact.

There are a slew of different companies trying to create a good hologram. The Physical Oprics Corp. is one such organization. Written in 1997 there was a document by an MIT student, working for IBM, explaining the theory and possibilities of it all.

Suprisingly the best and closest to an actual hologram, in my opinion, is a company that claims it's not a hologram at all but rather the Heliodisplay. Just check out some of the videos on the site and you'll see what I mean...I need one of those.

The creation of a hack

Ok, this will all in all, detail an email conversation I had with someone directly quoting pretty much all of it. Someone, I will withold the name of the person due to legal stuff, asked me through an email about Hackshield and how they would go about hacking it. I didn't know what game they were using till about half way through, which was KAL online, but with my previous experience in hacking I tried my best, I don't know if any of this'll be useful but there's a lot of crap information out there.

Well ----, I haven't personally had any experience dealing with hackshield but if it does work like punkbuster then it should be quite easy to bypass. Upon getting your email I started doing some background research as to how hackshield actually works but without a game that it runs directly with I'm not completely sure how it would work during gameplay. With punkbuster it actively scans all new users as well as scans all active users every 30-45 seconds depending on how the server is set up. One of the biggest exploits I found with punkbuster is that it doesn't scan for certain things. The games associated with punkbuster are largely open_gl based games so it directly scans those files. Create a hack that isn't based in open_gl, say scripts skins and root files, then you don't have to worry about it being picked up.

getting around it as best possible

I know this is a long shot but if you happen to be on a 64 bit os then hackshield won't register on the machine. Then you can change the opening command of it slightly, this is where some scripting history comes into it, to still register as working but since it's a 64 bit os it won't scan properly thus always send back a response of the all clear. The type of scripting you'd need would probably, not completely sure I've just tinkered with the base files, be some kind of file relation mechanism.

Here is where your personal scripting would come into play. You'd have to type up something to trick the program. This should be easy enough...simply take the base file and make a copy of it. Now modify the copy keeping the base file in another folder. This will be your gateway to it all, trial and error, read through the program code a few times...print it out, highlight through it...etc.

As for Breakpoints, they're simply parts of code that tell the debugger to stop the program when it reaches a certain point. It is possible to bypass it using breakpoints, but it would work much better if you use the #if command, something like

This should allow you to skip certain parts of the program itself rather than just stopping because if there is no response from the user side of it then there's a problem and you're caught. This way you can at least send something in game and not have a problem with the uptake.

lol i have been to the website, its pretty funny for a antihacking site, looks more like a ISP website or something, the game is called kalonline ( www.kalonline.com ) and hackshield is integrated with the game and the server, there are 2 international servers that you can connect to. im not sure if u read around on the site but it says that hackshield only works where every client connects to the same server, so it can check up on itself im assuming.
all the info you provided is VERY helpful and im extremely thankful. im not very familiar with scripting,packet editing, programming and that type of thing, but i will research what you have told me. the main thing we would like to do in this game is be able to kill the monsters in 1 hit , i asked some of the people that used the 1 hit hack before hackshield and some told me it was editing the .dat files which i uploaded a while ago (here is a link if you want to check them out, these are now in (Edited Out This was a link to files of his) and its passworded since hackshield (Edited Out This was a link to files of his)
and some said it was .dll files that edited the packets. Yea, if you had a 64 bit processor and the opperating system modification to go with it for that to work. Then you'd just have to script the beginning again, or at least thats the way it looks in the programming but I don't see it staying like that for very long, I figure the next update that comes out will take care of that.

.hackingsource.net/index.php?act=view&id=112.... that is a good site that is ran by a friend of mine and there's a premade speed hack...for some reason my computer won't open the files within it, I think because it's a visual basic based/created program...I hate that, anyway I pissed around with it and a personally hacked version of KAL. The fact that this game was created in Korea helped in my personal hacking of it as the coding style taught there is very easy to decode and work with.

As I look through random other hacks associated with this game most of them are with selling something. There are a suprising number of people who hack at the game, I used a code viewer, a program that allows you to see what code has been sent by other NPCs as well as other players in the game, and I realized a lot of discrepancies in their code. The code viewer can also be seen as a cheat as you can see what buttons the opponent are pushing and respond to them and yatta yatta yatta.....

Anyway, I'm still checking up on it all, just wanted to give you an update...

i have a modified cheat engine , which i think i can inject dll's into the game. i can change the cooldown on items and attacks to 0 , and i can give my weapons infinite range and speedhack as fast as i want with the memory editor. i talked to the guy who made the 1 hit hack and item creation and he said that he stumbled upon GM functions when he was going thru packets, with gm function you can create any item like custom weapons that are strong enough to kill the monsters in 1 hit. he said he disabled hackshield by "kernal threshold" or something, i cant recall that well because i forgot to save the conversation, he said he has a hack program that he can create geons (ingame money) and other items. the game uses a storage system where you can put your items in, they also have the option to pay for things with cash , like onetime use items, a friend said that you can create items that way. i have a amd x2 4400 processor and i have the dual core processor driver, i have 32 bit windows tho , would your method still work for me? thanks for all the help. we have many people and friends working on this lol. what time zone are you in? im in southern california (pacific time)

I'm in West Virginia Eastern Standard Time...As for changing your windows, if it is windows XP, there is an update you can download that will allow you to use your processor in it's 64 bit state. Once this is done you could probably easy hack the game. As for the kernel threshold I don't see how that could play into it at all, I'm not saying it doesn't I'm just saying I don't know how it would. I'm suprised the memory hacking isn't picked up by the anticheat program, since that's the case you should be able to search for the variable strand that is your attack power, this should be easy as it changes depending on which weapon you modify...Attach a stronger weapon and the variable goes up, attach a weaker one and it goes down. Simply figure it out and change it to whatever the cap on dammage is then lock the variable so no matter what weapon you use will work. You can do this with speed and defense as well. This would be the easiest way to do it.

if the game crashed then it wasn't the right variable. There should be 2 variables that are the same thing yet in different locations. One of these is the attack. If you know your actual attack power you could try to type it in and search those specifically as you change them. This should allow you to narrow it a lot faster. The reason there'll be 2 variables is that one will be the attack that is displayed to you and the other variable is the attack's actual power. If there's a way to scan people's power on the game this could come in handy. Set the display really low and the actual attack really high. Take em by suprise.

lol yea, i think that attack damages are server side and that it randomly chooses how much damage you do , but i will try this again. i would think that this would have already been done if it is possible, health points and mana points are all server side, you can change them client side but it doesnt have any effect

well there's the base attack plausible which should be userside...thats the number from which the server determines how much damage to do...and there's the final which is server side...which is how much damage is delt

There should be, I'm not completely sure as I'm not doing this along with ya, just thinking it through when I've done it before. For safety reasons I'd set the minimum about 10-15 points lower than the maximum...you can still set both amazingly high, just have a little buffer there.

As for getting around the timestamp you probably wouldn't have to, you could probably just spam with hitpackets and not worry about it.

as far as i know dll hooks and packet editing is the way to go with this game, at least thats what ive been hearing. i think ive done nearly all i can do with this mem editor so far, except to give myself infinite buffs

disabling punkbuster is easy, I simply made a hack that isn't open_gl based as thats what punkbuster works with. It does check cvars in game but I basically made a independant packet that works seperately from it all.

I think I've helped all I can with the hacking of this...I wish you luck with your hacking/cracking exploits. If I come up with anything else I'll be sure to let you know.

disabling hackshield isn't an option. Upon disabling hackshield it would kick you for non-respondance or something similar to that. As for the (protecting the user and pleading the 5th again)

Ok, this is basically it. The rest of the conversation is the kinda trouble you can get into if you do the wrong thing the wrong way. I just wanted him to be clear on the consequences of his actions. Remember, never break the law. If you're simply testing game security in an effort to increase your knowledge thats fine, but don't try to make money off anything or something like that.

Firewalls Hard and Soft

Recently a friend of mine asked me about ports on a firewall and which were the best to close off. So I'm taking this opportunity to go into detail about firewalls, don't know if I have before but there are 2 types of firewalls, Hardware and software.

Software is the most common, it's simply a program that runs in the background that controls your ports as well as bandwidth flow usually. There are a slew of software firewalls out there but I'll list a couple of my favorites.
The Kerio personal firewall is my favorite. It's free (or advanced version is purchaseable), customizeable, everthing...I love it.
Zone Alarm comes in a close second as this thing has been around forever. It's easy to use and very effective.

I'd say those are the ones you want to go for, some antivirus programs have built in firewalls such as Norton/Symantec and Panda which are decent enough anti-virus programs.

As for hardware firewalls this most often connotates a router or something of that nature. If you're looking for a good router I'd go with a name brand, like Linksys or Netgear simply because those that aren't so computer savy have a good tech support and these are easy to work with. If you'd like to look around for a different router I'll give you a list and some links:

That should be enough to browse through.

Anyway, the question at hand, which ports to close once you have this wonderful technology. Because there's so many ports it's next to impossible to list them all out, but some people have actually tried to list them out. This one is ok, a long ways behind though, it was last updated in 2001.....

The best advice I can give is to close all your ports and have your firewall ask you if you want to allow traffic through each time a new source appears. This seems the best, it blocks off all the random crap you don't want to deal with and allows you to save responses to choices. If you want one thing to get through but not another, you can set it up that way, and it's easy. With Zone alarm it's a matter of clicking one single button.

If you really want to be secure you can set yourself up for "port knocking." I know it sounds funny but port knocking is a communication where data comes encoded in the form of connection attempts to closed ports, in which the port sequence forms the encoding, and acts as an event trigger on the receiver's end. The only problem with this is that the receiver does not return a message to the sender during this in order to make it seem accidental or mean spirited.

Thats the best I can tell ya, I don't know a lot about port knocking or I woulda posted more, it should be easy to find though. For further reading about trojans, tcp/ip, and ports I suggest reading this. It's a decent read not fast by any means but I don't have much of a life so I read it pretty quickly.

Audio Editing Goodness

Ok, thanks to a recent question I'm doing this post about editing audio.

First off we're going to start with conversion. There are many, many, many programs out there that can be used for audio conversion. The best few that I've come across are as follows:

Switch presented by NCH. This converts almost all medians of audio format....almost, a good program, runs smoothly, but lacks some abilities.

Blaze Media Pro is another decent program at editing but it's a little crappy if you're trying to go professional.

For those of you who want to convert to mpeg-4 audio...troublemaker (thanks for the post)... simply get Quicktime 7 Pro. This won't let you convert wma to mp4, but it will let you convert an mp3 to an mp4. As far as I know there is no program that'll convert strait from wma to mp4, but you can easily make 2 conversions. Wma --> Mp3 --> Mp4

If you want Audio creation software I would go with the one that suits you. Here's a slew of them to pick from, but there's still more.

A great audio recorder/editor is Audacity...good opensource, free....wonderful. If you're wanting to just get some loops or techno editiong going. I'd go with Sonar or Fruity Loops. They're both pretty good, it's just Sonar is a lot more expensive, unless you go with the XXL package of Fruity Loops.

Well the end of my semester is drawing near so don't expect a whole lot out of me post wise for another month, after that I get summer break and thats when it'll get good again, I'll be posting all kinds of new shit. I just formatted my friend's computer and I'm about to install XP on it again. Not a whole lot tech wise going on. Hackermedia is slow so there's not too much great stuff this week, but it'll get better again.

As you can tell I updated this thing so now I have a mini google earth on here, you should post where you're from and such on there, leave me a good message.

The best thing I can think of to post on here is how to Bridge Halo 2.

You need your pc, your xbox, and your modem along with some software. First connect your xbox to your pc, then your pc to the internet.

Next you need Zone Alarm and Commview. and stolen from a nice little guide "Go into a party where they(whoever you want to have host)is the only person and get their IP address. Enter it into Zonealarm's trusted section along with Xbox Live's IP address. Then turn the security settings to high and your trusted zone to medium. This will force host to the trusted IP address(the trusted IP address can be your own)." You get their IP address from Commview.

Start up your Xbox then unplug your ethernet cable to get to the troubleshooter. Copy down your DNS server codes. Go to My Computer - View Network Connections -then Highlight both Connections with the shift key(hold shift and click on both items). Right click and select bridge connections. There ya go...

Gettin back in the swing of things

Ok, well, I've been working on my most recent post and I was trying to figure out what to post about. I guess I should post about something I hate but I know a lot of people wouldn't go without...The Apple Ipod.

We all know the normal shit that goes with it...shitty menu, music downloading program you're forced to use...it's bullshit. Well, I'm trying to make things a little better for us.

First off we go with the general menu...it sucks, it's based off a shitty tiered system, and it's outdated. The Ipod Linux Installer is the first step to making your ipod pimp. Just installing this gives you a vast array of stuff you can play with, games, programs, etc.

Also with the Ipod Linux is gtkpod, which is a GUI for your ipod. This is made for a Linux opperating system so I'm not completely sure if they have a windows version.

If you don't want to go with the standard or linux you can simply turn your ipod into a database. This way your ipod works much like a thumbdrive using the simplest of settings for your music selection.

If you're just looking for some good programs to spice up your ipod we have a few for ya. The INES is a good one. It's an NES emulator for your ipod so you can play your favorite nes games while you're out.
If you're a drinking, like me, then the iPod bartender is for you. This program has an amazing database of mixed drinks and how to make them.
Also, being a college student, I know the value of an encyclopedia, so for you college students with ipods the Encyclopodia. It's Wikipedia for your ipod.

I'm Not Dead

Damn, it's been one helluva year so far. A lot of shit's been going down, sorry for the nonresponsiveness of postings. Well I'm formatting and reinstalling a computer for a friend right now and in this post I'm giving the low down of the programs put on it.

To start us off we have to format it though which I used a program called DBAN, I've talked about this before so look for it.

Next we go to the OS, I tried a few different ones but settled back with Windows XP simply because of program compatibility. A few that I did try were ReactOS, which was possibly the most decent tiny os I've seen in a long time, DSLinux, not the linx os for the Nintendo DS but rather damn small linux, and some random other one a friend told me to try but I didn't like it...poor compatibility.

Anyway, we move on to some of the basic programs. First Norton for an antivirus. Then some cd burning software so I used both Nero and Alcohol 120%. Both good programs and both have their own uses. Next I'm going for some internet associated software. First a browser with the newest Firefox. Netlimiter for the periods in which personal bandwidth must be limited. Finally some random downloading software.

Besides that we're gonna hack the start button and other as well as a few other things and voila, pc is done.

After a slight reprieve

Sorry I've been gone folks, the recent holiday season has been keeping me busy. Well, a lot has been going on.

A new exploit was found which'll allow access to anything on a fully patched xp box. No patch has come out for it yet.

There's been a lot of buzz that I've been hearing about an opperating system lately. ReactOS is an open source opperating system compiling bits and pieces of several other opperating systems. Seemingly a lovechild of Windows and Linux this opperating system seems solid and I personally plan on trying it out withing the next week or so.

I recently sent a letter to the FBI, I know it sounds stupid but it's worth it, and I got my reply from them a couple of days ago. When I mailed off my "Privacy Act Request Form" I didn't know what to expect wayside of a response. A Privacy Act Request Form is a nice little tool which thanks to the patriot act allows an individual to know all there is to know about themselves. If there is any record on you at all that the FBI may have then they are obligated by law to tell you everything upon a request from you.

When I recieved my response letter recently I was amazed and excited to find that they had nothing on me. This is always a good thing.

It's the Holiday season which means WalMart should lose loads and loads of money due to piracy and social engineering. Because it's the holidays WalMart won't be checking for reciepts as much, especially in the big cities. So what you do is buy a bunch of discount shit at other places and bring it to WalMart to sell back at their regular prices. Granted you may only get $10 out of a game when you paid $2 for it, but thats still $8 you didn't have before. If you're like my town and have 3 WalMarts relatively close together then you can do this multiple times thus increasing your income 3 fold.

Lenny Bruce - the police raided a club while Bruce was onstage, and a comedian in the audience told the cop to stop and leave him alone. The police later asked him for ID but the comedian replied that he didn't believe in ID, so they locked him up for the night. That Comedian was who we know as George Carlin.

That was an amazing time in american history yet it's not very well known. Another such situation is in the works right now and I believe it's my duty to tell you about it. John Gilmore is a millionaire who lives in San Francisco who is sinking lots of money into a fight against identification requirements. Even though I think most of this guy's beliefs are crap I think this one is a good one. Many civil liberties groups begged him not to take this case because he'll probably lose, which I'd rather him not do the case than lose but what can you expect from a co-founder of the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation). A case like this needs to be planned out. If he does win I will rejoice, if he loses, just another reason to hate the EFF. There is going to be a lot happening in the coming few years so be sure to watch what is happening, keep an eye on politics because many of your rights both civil and electronic are on trial.

On another note, Ubuntu, I love you guys. Edubuntu is good too, it's for a younger generation and I'd say we NEED it right about now. We need to start teaching people there's another option besides windows because a lot of people don't know how good of a tool a vast knowledge of operating systems can be. XYZcomputing has come out with an article about why they believe Ubuntu is so good, it's worth a read because it's pretty short and not bad at all.

I must say Thank you to Ubuntu because of their and their communities dedication.

Ok, so my movie is going pretty well. I'm tired of school, it's pissin me off, but that happens with school. Luckily I'm not the only one pissed. NBC is pissed too. It's legal to copy shows onto vcr and tivo and dvd and such...but they don't like the fact that shows are being copied onto the ipod videos and sony psp.

I was scrounging around on the net the other day looking for something useful to know and I stumbled accross this. It's amazing in the sense that there's knowledge here I've wanted for a long while. Yes, that site has many many walkthroughs for writing your own operating system. I might tackle writing one once I get out of school. That would be nice.

Plus, since I'm a MacGyver fan and I've been watching series 3 again recently waiting for series 4 to come out on dvd December 9th... :) I've stumbled accross this little ditty. It has all household products and their chemicals. I owe them so much.

Anyway I've been working on my next bit of Social Engineering and if it works I plan to post pics on here of it. Each step, laid out all the way to the end. Otherwise I'll just be like, so...I fucked up, and you won't hear anything after that.

I'm also a HUGE gamer. This means some of my favorite games of all time were 64 bit or lower. This place has just about every DOS game you can imagine wanting...and yes They have Rise of the Triad on there. :P

While on suspension posts some shit on myspace.com or some shit like that and when she got back to school she got suspended for another 3 days for what she wrote...wait wait wait, so you, the dousche bag principal, is trying to extend your reach of power not only outside of school, but to the infinite reaches of the internet?
FUCK NO! Fight that shit bitch, don't let them get away with that. That is them taking liberties with you that they shouldn't be allowed. Sue the shit out of them because they are impeading your education and get a big fat paycheck out of it. Teach that guy a lesson that he will NEVER forget. The principal says that "courts are all over the place on the matter"...Well, thats bullshit. That's another situation in which a principal acted without knowing the full extent of the problem. If she had posted that SHE was gonna kill someone I'd say bring the cops in and let the investigation start. Thats what they're there for. If she's just talking shit then she doens't deserve to be suspended again because being free is something we should hold dear.

The EFF(Electronic Frontier Foundation) got involved in this, that makes my soul weep. These people are the rejects that couldn't make it into the ACLU, like it's hard or something. They don't need to get involved, what we need to do is take the principal out back and shoot em. Stupidity shouldn't be tolerated. We're allowed certain freedoms in this country and if people new their law history they would know a little about how powerful it is.

Everybody's pissed

Well, a whole lot of people are pissed for various reasons...My space was hacked AGAIN cause they can't get their shit together, more people are dying in the middle east, shit happens...

Google maps is amazingly fun...A site has offered to let people find sex offenders in their area by inputting an address. I put mine in and there's a few in the area.

I'm currently working on social engineering my way into a whole lot of hidden information, good mojo there.

For those who hack the ps2 by installing a harddrive and copying games to the HDD then running them from there there's a great site that has everything software wise for using it. If you would like to know how to cheat it's suprisingly not that hard. I found it amazingly hard till I knew this trick. Load up your cheats, whatever you're using, game shark, code breaker, etc. then turn the cheats on. Once you go to the start game section put any ps2 game in. Once the screen goes black immediately open the disc tray and wait for the menu to show up. then put your boot disc in and voila...load the game, cheats enabled. Lots of trial and error to figure that shit out.

Still workin on the movie but I'm trying to update this whenever I get free time, I just seem to be making myself busier rather than less busy.

First I would like to appologize to all my readers for not updating recently. I've been extremely busy with school and making a movie and it's been days since I've been home really. I've been handing out business cards around my town. Hopefully the next ones I make I'm going to take pictures of before I hand out so you all can see them. Some of em aren't that bad. Anyway. Where was I...

Oh yes, Now I'm going to have to get into hacking night. There's not a whole lot you can do to hack night, at least that I can think of or find. So this is going to be a mixed life troubleshooting guide.

First hacking night time, or your vision at night, isn't that hard. Everyone's done it. Sit somewhere in the dark with your eyes closed for about 10 minutes and when you open your eyes your pupils will have dilated to the point to which you can see almost as good as if it were daytime.
Wear dark clothing and stay in shadows if you don't want to be seen. Having a black hoodie helps because you can simply crouch and pull your hood up. Then you dissapear into darkness. Good for avoiding certain types of people.

I think thats about it for hacking life...all you can do now is put a potato on a string and drag it through south Boston, Thanks for comin out.

Besides that It's been decently slow in the tech world...a few new tech vids have come out. A few spammers have either gotten arrested, or went to trial. My movie is putting along. If you have any questions drop me a line...

Hacking Mornings

This post is about hacking the morning routine.

The majority of people wake up to an alarm, wash themselves in some way, get something to wake em up...most likely coffee, then proceed to work/school/what the fuck ever.

Well first lets start with the alarm. Actually using an alarm is bad for your health. The sudden amazingly loud sound brings your body to a state in which you are ready for a flight or fight response. It's not intended to bring you to a state of arousal. It's to snap you into a reality which is horrible. The human body uses other responses in order to wake up properly. If you can set it to where the light in your room reverse dims brighter slowly to wake you up then when you wake up you'll actually be in a full state of arousal. You'll be awake and much more likely to proceed through your day and not be tired. I personally hate being tired, I don't know about you but I think it sucks going through your day bogged down.

Next is when you wash yourself in some way. Many people take a shower of some sort or a bath. The best way to wake up is a warm bath in which the water is moving(a jacuzzi). This brings you back to your animal instinct to where you relax feeling safe but waking you up quick enough to where you're perfectly fine. Brushing your teeth and such comes after this. It's just something you have to do because it impeads you're waking up in so many ways. You just have to get used to it.

Next is something to help wake ya up. Coffee is the prominent choice of energy in America which I believe is complete bullshit. Grab an apple for breakfast. An apple has more reserve energy in it than 10 cups of coffee. Eating 1 apple and you'll be awake for a good long period of time. Plus it's healthier, soposedly. Personally I just skip breakfast and eat 2 lunches and 4 dinners, but thats just me.

When you leave your home for whatever you might be leaving for you'll want to be slightly warmer than it is outside so that while you're driving your consciousness registers things more prominently. If you drive for more than 5 minutes then when you reach your destination you'll be fully awake and ready for the day.

So to recap.
No Alarm
No Shower
No Coffee
No Cold

If one of these things will take more time then give it to it. You shouldn't stress yourself in the mornings, you'll pay for it later.

The Uberman Style of Life:

The Uberman sleep cycle refers to a style of life to which you cannot commit yourself that would require more than 4 hours of your time. The basics of this lifestyle is that you're awake for 4 hours then you sleep for a half an hour. Since your body is then only getting 2 hours of sleep a day then your mind tricks itself to entering REM sleep sooner to where as soon as you fall asleep you begin to dream and replentish your reserves for the day. This allows a 16 hour work day. This lifestyle requires that the nutritional value of the food you ingest is higher than the average person's. This lifestyle is often referred to as "polyphasic sleep" as there are multiple phases of sleep each day.

AKiratima's Cycling Lifestyle:

This is a process in which you lower your body's required sleep time to the point in which you are awake for 48 hour periods then sleep a normal sleep schedule. This requires training your body to endure long periods of high energy useage without a replentishing phase. This is normally believed to require lots of sugar for energy but it's quite the opposite. This requires protein, carbohydrates, a high calorie intake, as well as a grand supply of fruits being put into your system. The food regiment usually required for this entails :Salad with whatever you want on it(cheese, meat chunks, pepperoni, black olives, etc.) This also goes for the salad dressing you're going to put on it. Anything you want; Meats are next on the menu...beef, chicken, pork, and if you like it, which I don't, some fish. You'll skip desert and instead take another meal in per 24 hour period. You will now be taking in 4 meals a day and roughly 6-7 snacks regularly. These include beverages. Snacks usually entail a ham sandwich or an orange or an apple or something to that nature. Food can be prepared any way you want...grilled, fried, baked...whatever works. Once you start changing your food schedule to this you will begin staying up a half an hour later every 2 days. Be sure to wake up at the same time every day, just go to sleep a bit later. This will change your sleep pattern to something similar to mine. This is more of a Bi-Annual phasic sleep. Since you sleep once every 2 days in the end. This can be pushed further. At one time I was sleeping only 3 hours every 2 days so test the limits of this if you feel froggy.

28 Hour Days 6 Days a Week:

This is a system adopted by quite a few people, and even a few that I know personally. This Requires changing your workday to 10 hours, personal time to 7 hours, and then you get 9 hours of sleep. Both the 24 and the 28 hour day allow a 2 hour period in the morning to prepare and commute to where you need to be. This still allows you to work 40 hours a week since you repete this 28 hour day 4 times a week (in regards to work). This does however cause one of your days to be contained within a period of darkness, unless you are to make that day a day off and you move your work day closer to the modern weekend. This would be considered a monophasic sleep cycle since you'd be changing the period of time that the day would be considered and shortening the week to 6 days. The other two work withing the 24 hour day idealism.

All three of these are much more productive than our current lifesyle which is the 24 hour 7 days a week 9-5 work day 5 day work week. Personally I run the AKiratima cycling lifestyle...but I'm not gonna try to persuade you to another random one which wouldn't benefit you nearly as much as the one I created.

Recently there's been a slew of motor vehicle hacking. Well, here I am talking about even more.

In Europe around 2000/2001 it was decided that 200 mph is too fast for a motorcycle so they said any motorcycle that could excede 187 mph would be banned. Well, what if we were to buy a speed capped motorcycle and...modify it?

So the ZX1200-A2 is capped. The ZX1200-A1 isn't. When comparing the two we find 1 extra wire in the ECU, engine control unit, and obviously this is the thing limiting it. Right? The new wire is #9 yellow which connects to a sensor. This seems to be the thing that limits the speed. Cutting this wire seems logical. Break the connection and it'll work perfect...Right?....wrong, this causes it to go into a fault mode. This causes the exact opposite reaction. The bike is now limited to much slower of a speed. The normal voltage on a signal is 5v and it works out to be 3357Hz while going 186 mph. If we could replace the signal being sent with a signal that never goes past 3000hz then the motorcycle will never stop it's advance of speed until physically impossible.

Randolph Guthrie was recently deported from China where he was arrested and jailed for piracy. He served 5 or so months then was deported back to the US. His operation was based out of Shanghai with the help of an accomplice, Abram Thrush. Sadly, Abram was sentenced to a year and pretty much dissapeared off the face of the planet. He's probably been killed in some alley. Thats why it's better to get caught in the US. You go to jail and get 3 meals a day, less prisoner abuse, easier sentencing.

Microsoft believes that they can knock out piracy in a single bound. They believe they've created the ultimate in pirate protection. It's a one time use dvd. HMMM, well...I do believe that this was tried once before. In the early times of DVDs there was a counterpart that was much like this. Just like the battle between cassette and 8-track. Then cassette to cd. As well as beta and vhs. There was a dvd vs. 1 time use disc. The public though the 1 time use was wasteful and pointless thus the DVD jumped into the foreground.

The RIAA has effectively been stopping Congress from passing bills set to prevent online piracy. Wait, lets read that again...riaa....stop...bill...prevent...piracy. Hmmm, something's not right here. Oh wait, thats right...If legislation is passed on piracy then the RIAA, MPAA, etc. are out HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS in lawsuits. The legislation against it would make it an actual crime, which right now it's not, and getting caught would come with jail time...not a subpoena.

I could rant and rave about how the RIAA/MPAA/etc. are completely fuckin up in their ways. Piracy has not only jumped, but fuckin skyrocketed since they made such a big ruckas about it. Before only computer savy people knew how to get movies and such, but now that the common folk who aren't computer savy know that you only need a program then they're all jumping on the bandwagon.

Steve Jobs...I just wanna commend you for your fortitude. The recording companies want the prices on itunes raised but you refused. Good call. You've had a good haul when it's come to technology in general. I like you. Got the mac, the ipod, all kinds of good shit. Plus, unlike other places, you make smart decisions when it comes to battling piracy.

Piracy is too wide spread, it's a foe that cannot be stopped, it cannot be controlled.

FTP is an age old p2p style of transfer. How many of you know what ftp is based off of and how many different options you have when it comes to ftp?

For starters ftp = file transfer protocol. This is pretty much the entirety and essence of p2p. Just tossing files between computers. FTP works off an 8 bit client server protocol. This means the protocol distinguishes between the client and the server in the process of transfer. Most people require a client of some sort to browse ftp servers. The possibilities here are endless. SmartFTP, FTP Explorer, Bulletproof FTP, Cute FTP, etc. There are loads and loads more, but those are the most well known. Windows has a built in ftp client/server which you can set up if you know what you're doing but they don't make it easy. Firefox has a built in client which is pretty easy to use and is suggested by myself.

There are problems with ftp, but most clients have eliminated those problems. Slow transfer rate, download start, and login procedures are a few of those problems.

FTP connections can be hard on your bandwidth though cause of the connection stylization that is used. Plus once the client opens the port to actively participate in file transfer. The ports used by ftp are most often 20 or 21. Each port has a purpose. 20 is where the info streams to and 21 is where commands are sent/recieved. This is very useful to know when you know someone has a ftp set up. There are numerous tools that all you need is an ip address and a port number to get access to someone's pc...if you're a script kiddie that is.

Personally I enjoy ftp "hacking" because I love DoS attacks. This can only be accomplished if the ftp allows anonymous access or the attacker has a login AND if it's on an IIS server. Using the ability to input a raw ftp command we can overflow IIS. Sending a 316 character sequence will bypass the minimum buffer in which you'll have to get by in order for the DoS attack to work. Anything over 316 should be successful but if you figure out the specific number of characters then it will appear as a simple overflow of the IIS rather than a DoS attack. Of course we'll still need to send a command through when we do this so just use a ls which will list the files in the specified folder. Then any character following that should be good. You could do nothing but the letters DOS over and over till you hit it and it'll work.

Please not that with the DoS attack and the imminent overflow of IIS then ALL IIS services will be disabled. This includes NNTP, SMTP, (whatever web service there may be), etc. HMMM, I do believe I just told novices how to DoS attack an ftp...Shit happens.

This isn't the only exploit that you can take advantage of when it comes to FTPs. If you wanna know more you could always do some research ;-) knowledge is power.

Another thing is the NES pattent, it either recently ran out or is about to run out. Either way you'll soon be able to purchase your very own NES again. This is wonderful since I have loads of games for NES but mine barely works. Time to bust out some Castlevania or something.

Now, since I've been around quite a few hard drives I figured I'd do a super short rundown of the benefits of both the most common types.

Ok, Benefits of IDE

IDE is currently the most common type of hard drive connection. Some motherboards don't support SATA. It is powered through the most common power cord type(4 pin connection) which is the norm on most power supplies.

Benefits of SATA

SATA is currently the fastest growing connection out there. Yes there are more types besides these 2. The most up to date motherboards will support this type of connection. The most allotted to a single motherboard is 4 but theres probably more out there. It can be powered by either the most common power cord type(4 pin connection) or the new power strip that powers SATA drives. This can be found on the most up to date power supplies.

SATA has their own informational website while IDE doesn't. My personal opinion is that SATA is the next big thing. It's a lot harder to raid multiple drives together...but I'm sure that the capabilities of this will be introduced soon enough.

I think I have to declare SATA the winner. Differences in transfer rates are not noticed in my eyes. If you notice something then you need more ram and a better processor.

All About The Ladies

Well I'm not quite sure what to do for this post. I recently was emailed by someone from a prominent University wondering if I could figure out how to get into the directory for his University. It's hard for me since I don't have direct access to the system at hand, but for you, it should be much easier. You simply need to work in the science that hackers have worked for ages. Reverse Engineering, Troubleshooting, and Social Engineering. By combining these three things then you should be able to find your way into the directories.

If we go the troubleshooting path then we would have to look at the setup. Not much in depth searching here. Figure out the mail system, use google (it always helps), learn how student web pages offered by the school are set up.

In reverse engineering you could learn the security setup and do research on how to bypass it. Figure out it's weaknesses. Perhaps even saving the entire website onto your hd and modifying the html in the document itself. This can be useful in getting to limited parts of the site and is commonly overlooked as a technique that could be used. This is one of my favorites personally.

Finally social engineering, you'll have to use this to con the tech people into telling you what you want and need to know about the system's security. If they're stupid enough they'll let you log in with their password and username. Plus if you talk a bit of tech with them they'll usually open up to ya. The best way around this is to never volunteer information. NEVER! this blog is MY personal exception to the rule.

So this post is about a few free software bits o info. First is Propellerhead's music and sound synthesizing software which they discontinued. This means you can download it for free from their site now. The only problem with this is the fact that you need to register for the site and then you'll end up getting more spam mail and all that annoying shit. Yep, I just added some script to my blog so I can hopefully not only see how many people see this, but where they're from. Good stuff.

Thank you GVisit. This is a site that, when you put a line of script on your webpage, records visitors ip addresses through javascript and then locates the place where the ip came from. Then logs it and puts a marker on a site you can look at to see who all is looking at it. It's very effective in my opinion, or at least for the site's it's been used with, but since I just now added it to my blog I wonder if it'll work or not. Well, it's worth a try. :-)

College is going good for me and plus I have a lot of spare time now where I'm on campus so I get to play around on their computers. Fun, Fun. If they only knew how insecure it was. This is a major problem with universitys of today. They are growing to the point to which EVERYTHING is digital and there are no hard records. This means a skilled individual could get access to an administrator account, which is very easy, and change his/her grades. There are stories every day of students doing just that. Sad Sad world.

I should really be hired as the head of computer security. Thats first and foremost. Next we're going to make a central computer system in the main building of the school. This computer is going to be unhackable. I know what you're saying, how can you do that...Well first it would be a standalone computer which would not be linked to any other computers on the campus. It wouldn't use a wireless internet connection and infact it would have no internet connection hooked up to it period.

I know what you're saying, "how would the teachers insert grades and such?" I got that covered. The teachers would still have their normal computers but they would be issued a 1gb thumb drive with a certain program on it. Each time they need to input grades into the computer they would put in their thumb drive, insert the grades onto it then at the end of the day they could plug the thumb drive into the main computer and it would update automatically. The students wouldn't have access to any part of the setup that had to do with their grades. There would only be a select few people with the ability to access the main computer and the teachers wouldn't even have to access them. By simply imputing their "update drive" they would give it a moment and it'd be done. Game over, no more for you. The only way someone could hack it now is if they gained physical access to the computer.

The next step is that the main computer system would be running a decent version of linux so it would naturally be cheaper and more secure. I know that my campus' computers could fall prey to a mysql injection attack and it would be all over. Even a bootable version of linux and someone with enough knowledge to use it could do it too. Most Universities have career centers to help you get a job and hold onto a resume for you and all that. This is dangerous because they often have enough knowledge for stealing an identity. Oh well, I guess it's better for me this way, it just takes all the fun out of the chase. When they just hand you all this info it's no fun. You gotta work for what you want.

With the zotob worm running a muck the world's focus has been taken off of the rest of the computer virus, worm, etc. problems. A much less known scourge is the Zombie!!! No, not like the hollywood movie zombie or the hatian bokor created zombie but rather the computer backdoor zombie. Zombies are computers that are used and controlled by crackers. Now these computers can be used to proxy out or even use part of the processor power to work on whatever they want, and according to a news story there are 172,000 new ones each day. NOW, granted the zotob worm is obliterating systems so they can't be zombies but I'd say that roughly 70% of non zotob affected computers are zombies. This means only 30% are in the clear. Are you in the clear? Are you sure?

For now, I've praised Zotob because he does what I did. He put the info out there on how to bypass something and OTHER people took advantage of it. What few know is there is a zytob worm as well. This worm was created by the same writer as the mytob worm. I know it's hard to find info on these things unless you know what to look for so I thought I'd help ya a bit ;)

There's been a development

Zotob, a computer hacker, recently posted a guide on how to bypass certain things on a windows 2000 system and within a few hours of them posting several worms hit the internet with a quickness. The exploit used shuts down the computer within 60 seconds and the computer keeps rebooting. 5 variations of this worm are out as of right now. Since then Zotob has been listed as a "Malicious Hacker". He may or may not be a malicious hacker but I can say that for him posting the guide to it doesn't make him a malicious hacker. He's just teaching and spreading knowledge much like I do.

Theres also been a few things to legally happen recently that make things harder on computer savvy people. With the recent safe intersections act of 2005 outlawing illegal MIRTs and traffic pre-emption devices to the court cases of certain conglomerate media production companies the time of minor infractions is over. ISPs are required to have backdoors so the government can tap in.

It used to be that the average someone would download a gig, maybe 2, of mp3s but with the way things are getting a hate for the riaa and mpaa are fueling the fire of the battle so that if someone does get sued they won't have just 200-300 songs. We figure if we're going down we're taking everything with us. IRC has been around forever and has been the foremost at aiding in the spread of illegal movies and music albums and yet no major company has attacked it yet. Instead they attack bullshit programs Napster, Morpheus, Limewire, Bearshare, Emule, and above all now...BitTorrent.

Also a brood of phishing, spyware, keyloggers, trojans, etc. have been sent out recently. Usually when a worm hits it's followed by a slew of random other attacks which, in turn, would be masked by the worm. Since the pc would be fucked the person who uses the computer would not notice a slight difference in hard drive space used. I bet you could take away a gig of room on their computer and they wouldn't notice a thing.

How do you know it's getting that bad? When Newgrounds houses a game called "Defend Your Computer"

Well, it's just another day and another problem. School starts back up for me in less than a week. That sucks but I'll keep posting on here. Hopefully I can come up with some good material so I won't have to just toss out my opinions on crap. Yea, the government is actually not being such douschebags afterall. They've stopped locking up non-malicious hackers and instead, started hiring them. Recently on Digg.com there was a post about the US Department of Defence: Cyber Crime division going to Defcon and trying to hire some of the people there that know what they're talking about. Well now companies are hiring hackers privately.

41st Parameter hired Kevin Mitnick in an attempt to understand and prevent phishing attacks more. To me this is a bold statement about the annoyance that these attacks have become. If you've been looking at the current events involving things such as spamming, phishing, etc. you pick up on a kind of basis that we won't put up with their shit anymore

I mean Vardan Kushnir gets murdered in his living room during a robbery and the police don't even investigate it too thoroughly. It was a robbery, not anything that had to do with spamming, but once found out that he was the spammer there wasn't much of an investigation. Do you blame them? If I could kill random spammers and get away with it, I know I would. That'd stop the spamming and phishing with a quickness.

MIRTs are illegal now. Federal offence if caught using, buying, or selling one. That sucks.

VIDEOGAME HACKING!!!

*cough*, Ok. This post is going to be about video game hacking, I haven't posted this before because I do a bit of video game hacking and don't wanna get accused of hacking all the time, because I don't use my own hacks...I've tried them, but don't play with them regularly.

Most games today have some sort of anti cheat device. Punkbuster is one of them. Now I'm not saying that punkbuster sucks, but it's way too easy to bypass them. Punkbuster looks for groupings of code that are found in open gl hacks. The key there is the open gl hack. Any other type of hack doesn't register in their search.

Most games allow the use of skins. A skin is a file that changes how the characters look. It can also change how your walls, cars, etc. look in the game. The way that the skin works is by taking .shader files, usually, which contain the coding in which to switch one skin in the game to another which is also located in the skin file. The useage of the included files along with the .shader allow for this whole thing to work. Now as for making the walls see through, you're gonna have to get good at scripting because I won't flat out tell you how to hack it, but I'll give ya a hint.

OK, now if you're looking for a wallhack and don't want to make your own theres a good bunch of places you can find em. Unknown Cheats houses a few. Now if you know about the innerworking of the game you want to hack you might be able to figure out which hacks work for which games. Just because a hack is made for RTCW:ET doesn't mean you can't use it for CoD.

Usually if you take a hack made for one game and use it for another the anti-cheating device doesn't pick it up. Anti-cheat companies are heavily lacking in this way, but if they blocked every cheat that could ever be constructed all at once there would be no need for them because the games would use that basic block to stop them all. No updating cuts into their profits.

If you're not looking at hacking some multiplayer and would rather just have tutorials and built in cheats such as button combinations and console codes I would suggest Game FAQs. If you want 3rd party device assistance such as a gameshark or code breaker I would suggest the Code Creator's Club. The tool they use changes depending on which system you're looking at but if you want codes this is a good place to start looking. I think thats it for this post.

Now, I'm about to purchase a fm transmitter so that I'll be able to plug it into a laptop (the ultimate ipod) and play music. Now, some places like fast food restraunts and such play the local radio station in their sit down area. Upon doing some research I found that these little fm transmitters are pieces of shit and the signal produced by theses won't be strong enough...well, Lets see if I can remedy that.

FM transmitters that one would normally buy at like Radio Shack or WalMart or offline are weak for a reason. They have to go along with some stupid as hell FCC regulation. Part 15 to be specific. This regulation says it can't be strong because it might take presidence over "legal" stations. This is bullshit. But anyway, we're going to remedy this. A few things can be done to change how this works.

A. You can attach a bigger antenna to which to broadcast from. Some of these can get pretty strong, I've seen some powered antennas that you'd have to plug into an outlet to get working. These are good, but the downfall is the bulk you have to take with you as well as the extra power needed to run it.

B. You can go to radio shack and overclock your transmitter by adding battery packs to it. Most of these run on battery, 1 or 2 AAA batteries usually, so overclocking these with a few more powerful batteries such as some 9 volt or even larger like the huge square 12 volt batteries. Be sure to put a few in a series connection for maximum output. This will increase the signal put out by the transmitter, but too much power and your transmitter is toast.

C. This is the complicated part. The FCC regulation states the limit is .25mv. My normal college radio station is much more powerful packing a whopping . Well, what if we switched out some of the hardware of our fm transmitter? Yea, illegal, but don't put it past us, we're here for informational purposes and don't condone this, but will willingly tell you how (Thumbs up) This is hard and I don't know the exact way on how to do it SO, we're going to go with option D.

D. Convert your Wireless Headphones (in this case some good rca ones) into your fm transmitting device. Yea, thats right, we don't go cheap here, we go all out. You need to make sure they're the ones that work with a 2.4 ghz signal rather than a crappy infrared signal. Another thing you want with these is for it to work with your car stereo...Yes, this pair can be bought. RCA WHP150 Wireless 900mhz headphones are the choice I'd go with, cheap, easy to convery, and 20 hz to 20 khz response is good stuff.

There ya go, Get those wireless headphones and work on converting them to your fm transmitter which will be able to pirate signnal...how do you convert them? Well, upon looking at the fm transmitter I think you'd only have do sobder another part in. There is a place on the headphone's transmitter that sends the signal, simply sobder in a fm transmitter there and you got it.

Yes, it's time for another post. I had a post planned out in my mind because some friends of mine wanted me to Post about something. This kinda stopped when not only I forgot what the post was going to be about, but they forgot what the post was going to be about too. SO, I am left in a prediciment, what to post about.

I know, I'll break down 3 really good media editing programs and tell what I think about em.

First Pinnacle. Well this program has some good features. Shoot, if you buy a certain version of this you'll get a green screen to go with it. It has some great modifications you can add to it, a good list of transitions to go through, some random other video editing uses, but I'd have to say it's the worst of the three that I'm looking at tonight.

Next Avid, Okay, this program is amazing. If you want to produce an actual show I'd go with this because I know the local news stations and such use this program but they haven't barely scratched the surface of this program's useability. I've yet to see every plugin for this program and I must say the quality of the work you'll produce with this is much better than with most programs. I highly suggest this if you can afford it.

Finally I must rate the program I use to edit my videos and such. Adobe Premiere, I know a lot of people know this program but some people don't and I wanna get this outta my system. I love this program. I used to make videos for Return To Castle Wolfenstein and the only way I could make it was record 24 .tga files per second and splice em together pic by pic, but Premire did it for me. It's a good program for editing but sometimes the capturing can be a bit twitchy. I've seen entire clips be stripped of their audio on it. The plugins rival Avid because Premiere is a more respected and known name. All in all I'd have to say this is the best because of all the features that it has. Avid has a lot and it really good, but if you know what you're doing with Premiere then you'll be able to make media just as good as Avid would if not better.

Well, thats it for now, just opinion rather than actual fact based analasys like how to hotwire a car or bypass security codes. Hope you enjoyed it.

I recently was turned onto this feature which is being offered in more and more cd and dvd burners. Lightscribe takes an image that you supply in a jpeg or gif format and burns that image on to the top of your dvd as a label. Thats a pretty nice feature by itself, easy to tell cds apart because of what's burned in the top of em. Possibly make some really professional looking dvds if you make short films.

This isn't the use that I like. Upon opening the case of the actual burner and taking the entire thing apart. Now that you're looking at the inside of it, which I only suggest doing if you know about stuff like this, you can see the different parts, well, we're going to take all of that out and mount it seperately. Now what you don't know yet is we're building a tagging tool. We're going to hook this up to a laptop and bring this around to random places and burn images onto walls wherever we want. I know you don't believe this is possible and it's not...unless you increase the voltage that the burner is using.

BEAUTIFUL!!!

p.s. this must be used on painted surfices because the stone surfaces won't burn by the pityful lazer thats used.

Adelphia can't get their shit together

OK, so I finally got my connection back but theres no telling how long it will last. I have a cable modem and Adelphia is my provider. I figured this post should be specificly about broadband...

First thing to know Cable is the exact opposite as ADSL...good to know.

ADSL is ran over a analogue line...Cable is run over a digital line

The way information is sent over a cable line is the channel spacing. Certain channels are used for downstream transmission of data while others are used for upstream transmission of data.

ADSL works off your phone line. With all the services that are ran over the phone line...fax, dialtone, 56k modem...why not another. The way data is sent is that it sends signals in frequencies that a normal voice, fax, or modem would not make. See, whenever data of some type is input into the device it converts the data to frequency waves and sends them along the line. This is then converted back to the original data at the other end.

Now What would cause the signal to stop?

Well, since ADSL works off the phone line you'd think it would never go down....far from true. This piece of shit connection will go down when theres a decent storm around. If theres lightning and thunder near ya, it'll go out. The electrical interference caused by lightning storms causes frequency interference to normal data transfer which seems to mimic the signal that is sent by ADSL transmissions. What does this mean? your signal gets confused when theres a storm and no signal can get through....IE you're screwed

Cable will go out when 1 of 2 things happens. 1, your modem stops recieving the signal, or 2, they stop sending the signal. That sound good right? wrong...If the signal being sent is too weak then your modem will cast it off and not recieve it. If they do maintence the signal won't be sent, when the main server updated theres usually a 45 minute downtime (at least with my shitty isp), there are a million and one things that could cause one of those 2 things to happen. And if one does happen your average downtime with any isp is 15 minutes.

In other words no brodband service is good...hmmm, maybe one day we'll have a broadband service that incorperated BOTH cable and adsl...yea so when one is down the other will be up...and think of it...incorperating BOTH cable and adsl together will improve transfer rates thus relieving BANDWIDTH PROBLEMS!!! sure it wouldn't be so easy to get them to work together since they're so different, but thats part of the inginuity of technology...shit we have hybrid cars, why not hybrid broadband services?

Bluetooth hacking

Yea, I know this is old news to some people but I'm just starting to get into bluetooth hacking because I just realized the potential it has.

The ability to enter any bluetooth enabled phone and gain access to the phone numbers, calander, pictures, even make phone calls without actually having the phone on hand are just a few of these benefits.

Upon doing some research I found out about the piconet which is basically a personal web of useage and a scatternet which is a web of piconets that are connected. Each piconet has 1 master, up to 7 slaves, and up to 200 passive users. While bluetooth tools are being used something called hci packets are what is used to transfer the information. I've found several random linux applications which are wonderful in the sense that they help you record, decrypt, and log hci packets.

Bluesniff is a good little program if you feel like listening in on Bluetooth conversations

BlueZ is a protocol stack for linux based systems.

A good site to go to is the bluetooth security database if you just want to know the newest crap about the security issues associated with bluetooth.

I didn't know about any of this till a friend of mine showed me a few things about bluetooth hacking. I won't release his name but I will tell you what I saw. We were chilling in the downtown of my local area, mainly sitting on this big campus thats near my house, cough cough...Well anyway he pulls out this laptop and runs a few programs that he wrote himself. Pointing out that he has a usb bluetooth adapter. Using his computer we pirated the signal off of a cellphone that was in one of the dorms, not sure which one, but he used the calculator feature built into his os which is some random version of linux as well as a plug-in which turned his calculator into the digits of a phone. We then proceeded to make a phone call from his laptop using a cheap headset. He explained to me that he was taking control of the piconet making his laptop the master and the phone a slave. He then showed me how he could easily access the phone book, call log, everything. I know this is easy to do, but the things he used gave him access to the phone within 10 minutes.

I'm gonna try to get ahold of the programs and get some links out there because, from what I've seen, none are larger than a mb and theres only 3 programs he used. Thats all I have for right now, I know, it seems like someone suffering from ADD wrote that, but my mind is all over the place right now, so much going on.

Ad Block - Savior of time and trial

For those people who read this and try to take me seriously, I try to get ya some good content because you probably have very busy lives. Well, Ad Block, I believe, can help you minimalize your efforts. I've touched on this before but never really gone in depth with it.

Ad Block is an extention for firefox that I found is extremely amazing. There are other ad blocking programs.

Other ad blocking programs will, do as the picture below shows, replace the ad with the text [AD].

Even Norton has an ad blocking program built into their web assistant

but Ad block is unique in a few ways that the others aren't. When you have Ad Block running and you go to a website you'll see ads and all that crap. If you see an ad and it's a picture on a site with a link you can right click that picture and you'll get a menu that's something like this.

You'll want to click the link that says "Adblock Image" and you'll get a little box confirming the link to the pic where you can click "OK" or "Cancel" to get the ad blocked from appearing on your browser.

The problem with all ad blocking programs is that you have to select each ad seperately and that only takes care of that one ad on that one site. Lets go back and look at the confirmation box. :)

If you look here this is a pretty lengthy address for an ad. Also, If you look, you can edit the address in this box. The full address is to this ad itself, but what about the directory the ad is held in, or even the site that the ad is coming from. You can shorten this address to block out everything from the specific site. Many sites are set up specifically for ad placement so if you completely knock out the site from showing you anything, you prevent every ad that said site has to offer.

Also with Ad Block you get to block the flash promos as well. You know the ones I'm talking about. The stupid Shoot the dog and win a psp, or catch the falling Pope to win a Nintendo DS. These are complete crap and we don't need to see these either. Ad Block even helps you block these by offering a little tab that is visible. Sometimes you might not see it, but thats because the frame the ad is located in is made specifically for that ad. Simply curser over the ad and use your scroll mouse as if you were using it to scroll down a page. It should push the ad upward exposing the tab for easy blocking. The Ad Box that pops up should look something like the following

After installing Adblock, it gets a little section under your Tools tab at the top of firefox. Inside of it you'll find 3 things.

The first one bring up everything there is on the page you're currently on. It seperates every part of it. Scripts, Images, IFrames, and things that are Embeded into the page are just some of the things you'll see. The main things you'll be dealing with are the images and the iframes. An IFrame is a frame designated for an image or, in this case, an ad.

Now, if this was all there was to the program I's say thats p retty nifty, but I'm not just going to post about a nifty program, I'm going to post about a program MacGyver would use.

Once again, lets look at the confirmation window. This little box presents us with so much more than just a simple ok or cancel.

Upon shortening the address within the box to
"http://www.discovery.com/media/panels/ad_panel.swf"
we can see the direct location of the ad. Everything that follows that in the actual address are limitations on the image itself. Lets say we wanted to save this ad for one reason or another. All we would have to do is put a link to this ad somewhere on the web like say...here

Upon clicking the link we get denied from viewing it. This doesn't stop us from right clicking the link and saving it to our hard drive. Upon saving the file we get to view it in any way shape and form we want. Or, if we want to block this ad and everything else similar from this site we can shorten the address even further to "http://www.discovery.com/media/panels" and anything located in the section called "panels" on that site will be blocked. I found that all the shockwave files for that site are held in the "Media" folder and panels is a sub folder within that media folder. So lets bring the confirmation window back up.

and lets copy the address inside up to the media part "http://www.discovery.com/media"

When we paste that into the window we'll get an error that the page has been removed. This is actually just their security system. The page is there, they just won't let you view it. Some sites will though.

Going here will bring you to a news site where you can see Tom Cruise squirted in the face with some water for a prank by British tv. When you click the ad block link, which is there because of the type of media player they use, you get this address

Thats a long address for such a load of crap, plus the link above takes you right back here since it was giving me trouble linking to random places you didn't want to go. When breaking down the address you see where the cruise video is and you see where the 2 commercials they show is. After shortening the address we come to the following

This is all we now need to view the video. Upon making a link to this and clicking it the video opens up in your default media player. Once the video loads and plays through check your temporary internet files and there should be a copy in there that you can copy and paste somewhere else on your computer if you want to save it. Furthermore, some sites aren't safe guarded very well and looking at an address given can give you the location of their parent directories. Parent directories will give you the location of the files on the given site and make things a bit easier on you.

Yes, it's that time of year again. Defcon is coming up again. Once again, I'm depressed because I live on the East Coast and I don't get to go. (Frowny face).

Online Hacking Media

Ok everyone, I know that this can't be the only site that you come to for random hacker content, We're not that good, yet...

But what I thought I'd do in this posting is to give you some links to other places. Granted I hope you keep coming back, but these other places are good too.

The first place you wanna check out is Hacker Media. This site compiles all the new media productions from a slew of different sites. It mainly has links to the .mp3 files from tech radio shows, but there are a few videos out there.

Next I'll get to some of the more specific places. Infonomicon is a good place to go to because they not only have good audio bits to listen to, but they have a Infonomicon TV section of their site with a few episodes for you to check out.

I've listened to Rant Radio a few times and gotten a few nuggets of knowledge out of it. If you're bored and just feel like doing something tech related you COULD listen to this stuff, or you could go out and try some things for yourself.

The Binary Revolution group I really like because they take a lot of their time to do tech stuff. They have an audio program, a couple of videos, and a internetzine (which is just a magazine thats internet based).

2600. Ok, this is it. This is a magazine that is put out 4 times a year. The Hacker Quarterly. This rarely has outdated information in it and is amazingly accurate. If you're just starting to get into hacking or what not I suggest buying these and waiting till you know a little more about coding and all that before you begin reading through these. Definately not for novices, but amazing for those who are mediocre or better.

Digg is a site that is based off user submissions and is usually tech heavy information. It's not really a media site, but you can usually find links to some good media that is out and about.

The next few are based on videos more than anything else. From The Shadows came on strong at the beginning putting out 3 videos in a very short period of time.

The Broken is a fun hacking/cracking/tech group that put out 3 videos and have promised more. I really enjoy watching these videos because of the depth of the information given in the light hearted manner.

Systm is a series of videos created by pretty much the same group as The Broken with a more adult and professional feel to it. They offer their videos in a slew of formats which help because not everyone has all the formats avaliable.

Thats all I have for this post. Mainly because I couldn't think of anything else to post about so...yea...Next time I'll have a much more original post for you all.

First off, a group has created a website to advance free speech. There are groups that rally for the downplaying, or even elimination, of the theory of evolution being taught in schools. School is to help us decide things for ourselves, not to become a hinderance of our thought process. Props to you all.

This is a calling to all tech savy people out there. Email, Call, Get in touch with your senators any way possible. If you're not in the US get in touch with your government officials/representatives. Request a Letter of Marque. A Letter of Marque is a letter allowing piracy by making the carrier a privateer for the government they live under. They are used to right a private wrong. This means that you could maliciously attack things that you found to be in harm of the government. Multi million dollar corperations that get massive tax breaks by abusing the system are this kind of enemy. For another example of a target, see below.

Create your own slax distribution

Ok, sorry about taking so long to post a new one.

First I wanna start out with being able to create your own slax distribution. Click Here and you can get a program which will let you take a root iso of slax you download seperately along with random linux modules that you get seperately. Then it compiles it all in one big smorgasboard of slackware live cd wonder. Slax is derived from slackware which is a pretty decent distribution of linux in which it's stripped and made into a live cd.

Kevin Rose, mucho props, has said the 2nd episode of Systm is coming out this week. I can't wait, The first episode was brilliant and I bet it only gets better. Kevin, I'm still waiting for that next Broken episode ;)

Finally, Does anyone know how to make a decent timed explosion for cheap? It only needs to be big enough to fit inside a cell phone of average size and give off a really cool scene.

The Firewall

My little group of computer security consultants call ourselves "The Firewall." I must say that we are here to help you protect yourself and your computer from falling into the hands of those with malicious intent. Recently I've simply been posting random IT and Computer based info but hopefully, in the future, I will be able to post more directly security related info to you. First, A firewall.

A lot of people get Norton System Works, which uses Symantec, or McAffee's antivirus and think they're ok...This is far from true, keeping you computer safe and secure takes more than just that crap. First you do need a good antivirus and for that I suggest either Norton, not systemworks, or Panda Platinum. Panda is amazing because it updated every day and it can usually prevent you from getting something while the others simply piss about. As for a firewall a lot of people get Zone Alarm but upon trying to bypass this program I found that it was horrible and easily beaten. I suggest Kerio personal firewall which yo ucan download here. It's much more secure and easy to work with. On top of that you'll need a decent ad-blocker, popup-blocker, and spyware-blocker. Personally I just use Firefox and that prevents 90% of those things. On top of that I have several plugins that give me the other 10% blocking.

The Basics of BitTorrent

OK, there are just a few parts of this that are harder to grasp so I'll dumb it down. This is for BitTorrent and if you don't know what that is: " BitTorrent is a protocol that enables fast downloading of large files using minimum Internet bandwidth. BitTorrent costs nothing to use and includes no spyware or pop-up advertising." <---just pulled that off a random site.

moving on...

1. The tracker. Many people have asked me what it does and what the point of it is and I gotta tell ya. I think they're obsolete. The tracker is actually a server that controls the transfer process.

2. Seeder. This isn't that hard. A seeder is someone who has a complete version of your file downloaded and are sharing it. People who don't share are normally called leeches because they take but don't give back.

3. Torrent. This is the filetype that you will open with bit torrent. If you're using the original BitTorrent and no then the process of downloading should look like this.

First thing is that the file should look like this or at least have a .torrent extention

Next you open the file to begin the downloading process

Now you pick where you want the file saved

Finally you let the (whatever it is) download

There ya have it. Theres also some BitTorrent downloading programs like Azureus or the "BitTorrent EXPERIMENTAL download client".

Ip Address Maddness

Ok, I recently read a thing where a guy(script kiddy) "hacked" himself because he was a dousche and didn't know the proper ip address knowledge that he needed to to even fake that he knew something. First some of the basics of an ip address:

IP is for "Internet Protocol." An IP address is a tool used by a computer to determine which computer is which. If you connect to a specific ip address then you are connecting to a specific computer. An IP address consists of 5 numerical sections. The first 4 are called octets and are seperated by periods and can be from 0 to 255 while the last is seperated by a colon and can have a much wider range. The last numerical section indicated the port that is used through the computer. The finished ip usually looks similar to this 68.3.25.255:27960

Now with the close to 4.3 billion combinations that arise through ip addresses there are several that are restricted for specific use:

127.0.0.1 is your computer. Yes I'm talking to YOU!!! If you ever go to 127.0.0.1 then you're going to your own computer. If you send someone else to 127.0.0.1 then you're sending them to their own computer. This ip address is also known as Home or the Loopback address. In the convo I read this guy sent the script kiddy the ip of 127.0.0.1 and said it was his own. The script kiddy not knowing jack shit believed it and "hacked", if you can call it that, himself.

192.168._._ The reason for the 2 blanks at the end of this ip have meaning. This ip address is to a physical firewall/router. If you ever connect to a ip that starts with 192.168 then you're going into a router. The most common ending for this is .0.1 but I've seen many many different ones. Some common ones are .1.1, .1.0, .11.1, etc. My personal favorite is 192.168.0.1 ;-)

0.0.0.0 is the current network. If you're on a home lan and wanna know what's crackin then 0.0.0.0 is the ip that'll get ya there.

255.255.255.255 is used for broadcasts.

There are a few classes of ip addresses. Class A is for huge networks that giant companies or international companies would have. If your ip's first octet is somewhere from 1 to 126 then you are part of this vast class. These account for half the total number of ip addresses. Class B is used for medium sized networks and their first octet starts at 128 and ends in 191. Class C addresses are commonly used for small to mid-size businesses and consist of addresses with a first octet from 192 to 223. The other 2 classes are a good bit different and you probably won't encounter them so I won't bother.

Well, there you have it, If you have random ip addresses and want to know more about em go here and type em in. It's a nifty little tool.

Ok, Imaging and video. Farb Rausch is an amazing group who can create these amazing little graphics sequences in a 64k file. This seems to be the tool they use to create those programs. I found this link on The Produkkt. I've had a chance to play around with this a bit and the tutorial helped immensely with the creation of the effects and such. They also put out a little 96k first person shooter which is amazing. I see this group becoming one of the monst renound online groups when it comes to graphics and such.

The Promised RamDrive

Ok, for those of you who don't know, a ram drive is a virtual device that you set up on your computer to where something is always queued up in your ram. If you have a gig of ram in your computer and play a certain game constantly, then I suggest creating one of these ram drive virtual devices and installing the game onto the ram drive. Why? you ask. Something found completely in a ram drive has the fastest processing in the program. If you have a game installed in a ram drive, your fps will be the best it can be on your computer.

Theres only one problem with Ram drives, once you assign the memory in your ram to a game or program, the memory is no longer avaliable in your system memory.

Normally ram drives aren't allowed to be over 32 mb but there are programs out there that will allow you to make a ram drive that is much larger. i found a nice article on Ram Drives over at The Tech Zone and at the end of the article they have a link to a nice ram drive program.

Ok, I really have no idea what I plan on posting about in this one. Nada has a 4 day weekend coming up and hopefully we'll get shit sorted out with the camera so we can get SOME video online.

Well, I got to play with a psp a little bit ago so I figure I can put a link to some decent PSP hacks on here. Engadget seems to have the best of them. Go here for the hacks.

If you would like to get some pre formatted videos for your psp you can head over to here and download a few videos for it via bittorrent. There aren't many on the site yet, but I forsee many more. The ones on there now are The Broken episodes and Exitframe.

Thats enough for the psp, now what...hmmm...My pc crashed a few days ago and it corrupted my shell for litestep otherwise I'd let ya see what my shell looked like...it was decent, a compolation of several scripts really.

If nobody's heard of P.H.L.A.K. it's an amazing tool that you can use if you like to dabble in Linux. It's the Professional Hacker's Linux Assault Kit.

Dallas Con is coming up from May 2nd to the 7th. I suggest anyone on here who can make it to Dallas to go and see what there is to see. It's got some great stuff based on I/S (Information Security).

First off, The Pope recently passed away and I just wanna say bye to him. Even if you're not religious or of a certain religion, cause even I am an atheist, you can still appreciate that he was a cool guy who produced positive change in the church and in politics.

Now I just want to talk about some random stuff.

First off, If you have a laptop with wireless access, simply go wardriving at local wifi hotspots because theres nobody to sue when you download there.

Henry Rollins

Ok, First off I just wanna say, I've been listening to a lot of Henry Rollins recently and I have to say....GENIUS!!! This guy is not only cool, but he's intense, intellegent, well spoken, and articulate. I suggest anyone to listen to this guy's spoken word stuff or read some of his books. His music is ok, I'm a big fan of him so of course I'm gonna have a bias opinion, but his poetry and spoken word stuff is amazing. Plus, I emailed him and he actually responded the next day, how cool is that.

Secondly - THE WONDERS OF A GUMMI BEAR!!!!!!

The Bomb: Taking molten potassium chlorate and adding a gummi bear (which is mostly sucrose) and the molecules rearrange drasticly fast in a product favored reaction. Don't just do this at home, it's dangerous.

The Fingerprint Bypass: Just go Here. It explains it all

Sealant: Melting a gummi bear and dripping it on just about anything can be used as a sealing tool. My friend has done this for his water cooled processor in his pc so I trust it as he has about $5000 worth in hardware in his pc.

Possible Computer Idea? and some social engineering on the side

First, I jsut wanna toss this out there...it's my idea for a nice little computer. First you start off with the pc itself which would be from gumstix. Gumstix is a company that specialized in making working computers that are about the size of a pack of gum. Granted, they aren't fast, or big on space, but they're small so I can deal. Plus they have really cheap adapters for them. The pc I'd get would be the 400MHz with bluetooth ($214). Then I'd buy one of their extremely cheap extentions so that I could hook up a seperate hard drive to it. Thus raising the memory from like 4 mb to 120gb. This would be very helpful. Finally I'd head over to MP3Car.com for my monitor. I know what you're saying, why would I get a monitor from there? Well, cause they have cheap, small touchscreens. Now, some of these are really nice, but I'm cheap so I'd go for the liliput 7". This thing is a beauty. It can be detached from it's holding rack and carried about. From here you have the full pc and monitor, and since the monitor is a touchscreen, it has an added keyboard program built in. But thats not good enough, I'm gonna spring for the psp keyboard. It's small, pretty, and easy to use. It won't fit on the monitor, but with a few minor adjustments you can make it happen. It would also need a decent power supply and I was thinking you could take some random battery cell and convert it to use in this case. In the end I envision my portable pc to have the full pc, keyboard, and power supply on the back of the monitor and almost completely concealed. Using spare pieces of plastic you can make a custom back to hold all of it and cut holes for the power supply to rechard, an area for the keyboard to come out, and a place to get to turn the pc on and off. All in all I figure you could have about $600-700 and have a good little pc.

Just a little input, Litestep, it's a wonderful shell for your os. I think it only works for windows based systems but not sure. I say it's wonderful because you can modify it if you know how to code even in the slightest, good stuff.

Now for the social engineering:
Ok, I've looked around the net for a lot of random social engineering information and I gotta tell ya, if these people who claim to be "hackers" and put things like that out, we're in trouble people. They talk about all kinds of random crap. They say that dumpster diving is part of social engineering. No, it's not part of social engineering, it's part of hacking, and HACKING ISN'T A BAD THING!!! Cracking is when it's used violently/maliciously. Hacking is simply using reverse engineering or a series of attempts to check the security of something. If the company is throwing out passwords or the people are stupid enough to make their password something relateable to themselves and not just a random string, then the person dumpster diving is HACKING, not social engineering. Social engineering involves wit. A moron can jump into a trash bin, However, a moron cannot talk his way past security at an AT&T. Upon looking for a definition from an actual definition based website I found this

Ode to the Transfer!

This is specifically designed for p2p programs and their uses. A friend of mine asked me what a good downloading program would be to use while you're on a college campus. Since most campuses block you from installing K++ on your pc and you'd ppossibly get sued for using it anyway. Plus it's just a pyramid scheme to get your info by the riaa now so don't sign up for it. If you insist on Kazaa then use the light version I supply here.

It's a decent program, but not the one I suggest, the one I suggest is Emule (download) or Emule plus (download).

Someone I know likes DC++ (download) because if you get a good server with good people then you can get just about anything. I have played with it in the past, but I just didn't like it all too much, but some people swear by it. You might wanna check it out.

The most covented p2p is Bittorrent. It's also become the most targeted source of hate by the riaa and mpaa.(Downloads: Windows Linux OSX Source)

Some people use IRC to transfer files or, if you just know people who have these things, MSN messenger or AIM. I believe it's not worth the searching for it.

I just went over to Line Interference to check out what all was going on and I gotta tell ya. I was impressed. They have mp3 downloads of their episodes and they have 3 different shows, but one only has one episode. Each one is unique and good in it's own rights. Thats all I wanted to say on this post, I highly suggest listening to their show.

Ok, got the pc back up and thought I'd post on Social Engineering, one of my favorite topics. A site recently popped up which is suppose to be an open forum to talk about social engineering. Personally, I don't like it, I think it could be much better. If this is the best we got out there to converse about Social Engineering then we are hurting.

A section of Lineman which is a much better place to find info that you might be looking for has so much more info. I suggest this more than the other place.

This place I just happened accross and it's kinda odd at first, but it has some decent links.

OK, now off the topic of Social Engineering The Glitch have a new video out. I didn't really like the first video because as with a few others, they simply re-stated the things that Kevin Rose and Dan Huard did in The Broken. You can Download the first and second videos Here!

Another really good series of videos to watch is The Scene. This video series is wonderfly done and entails the trials and tribulations of a movie pirating group. Good insight as well as underlying and shifty meaning all around. Episode 5 just came out so I say go grab em.

Socially Engineering free money out of a local WalMart location.

Walmart has an amazing merchandise return policy so even if you don't have the receipt for a product of theirs, they'll still give you the cash back, but on a gift card.



Since WalMart has become the conglomerate that it has, this presents some interesting physical hacks of the system.

Toys R Us, a popular toy store chain, which sells all sorts of things. From kid books to board games and from RC cars to video games. The Video Game section seems to be a good place to start. Usually Toys R Us has video games on sale for roughly $15 that WalMart is selling for around $30-45.

Looking at this and noticing that they are the same game this presents a wonderful opportunity. Buying the game at Toys R Us and bringing it to WalMart without the Toys R Us receipt will get you an increased amount of money for the product, but it'll be in the form of a gift card.

If you don't want the gift card simply use all the money on it, but stick the card in your pocket or something. Come back after the shift change with the item and it's receipt. The receipt will say it was on a gift card but if you tell the clerk that you threw it away because it was empty. Not wanting to waste another card they'll usually give you a nice wad of cash. They will try and take your drivers license number, but what if you took the bus there? ;) CHA CHING!!! instant money :)

Filming is going slow but we're working on it, School is getting in the way but we're trying to work around it. If my professors can read this, gimme a break so I can make the video. I'm working on a big social engineering project which, hopefully, will be my next post. I recently found a nice program which, for all of you new windows users, is a DOS emulator! Unlimited Anytime Minutes through a physical hack!

Physical hacks have always been a interest of mine because they, in a way, incorporate social engineering into the equation. This bring us back to the original way of hacking. Phone Phreaking.
Phone Losers of America, or PLA, is a phone phreaking specialty group which also deal in several physical hacks/pranks.

Once again, Linux leaks into our lives willingly. Xandros, a very nice distribution of linux, just came out with version 3. If you don't feel like downloading it they have a section on their site where you can buy pcs with Xandros already installed. Best part, they're cheap cause it's linux and not windows.

Finally, I just want to advertise for a music group that is simply amazing. Poets of the Fall are an amazing group of musicials. You can't buy their cds in the us, but you can buy them from Stupid Shop which is based in Europe. If you want to listen to em before you buy em they have chunks of their songs on their site for people to listen to.

First I found a nice site that works as a blog that covers a whole lot of Hacking Media. This site has mp3s, videos, etc...or at least links to them.

If you are somewhat experienced at security subversion then THIS site is for you. It has wonderful guides on hacking random things.

Since Suprnova.org went down the MPAA has been viciously attacking as many torrent sites as they can get ahold of. Recently two more sites went down including the wonderful Lokitorrent. Have no fear, a site that cannot be shut down due to it being badass, and it being located in sweden helps a bit, has arrived. The Pirate Bay! This site houses a whole lot of torrents and if you look on the sorted links near the top you'll see one that says "Legal Threats." This is a nice little sub site they made with letters they've recieved from places such as EA games, Dreamworks, etc. that have threatened them with legal action of taking their site down. Luckily they didn't fear their blasphemy and pretty much told em to fuck off.

We're still working on the videos, after a slight problem we lost the video from the first shoot so we're gonna have to reshoot all of that, no problem though cause we shot that in a night. The Broken said that they would have a video coming out within the next month I think. Good stuff. I've been REALLY busy with school work which sucks because it takes time away from me playing with tech.

Real/Fake ID Social Engineering

Ok, My previous Social Engineering tactic posted let you know how to get someone's credit report. Now I'm going to explain how to pretty much steal their identity with the info you got. This will include getting a completely legitamite drivers license based with their name and info, but have your picture.

*Disclaimer: The Following depicted acts and information may be illegal in some states/countries and is intended for informational use only. Never break the law.

So you've recieved their credit report from the previous post's info. You should notice thats not the only thing you got from it. You got legal judgements, possibly a picture of their current drivers license, possibly a picture of their social security card, their entire credit histoy, the numbers of their current credit cards, possibly an account ballance of their checking account.

With the pure fountain of knowledge you've just obtained you can do just about anything you want, but you want to steal their identity. You want to use credit cards and charge it to them with no hassle. First you'll have to gain access to their mail. This will be a federal offence if you get caught. Obtaining a 3 bills from their mailbox should be sufficient. These will be used as verification of "yourself" at the Department of Motor Vehicles or (DMV).

From the credit report and random info you got back you should be able to memorize enough info about your target as needed. Social Security Number is always good, Age, Birthday, Address, Etc. Go to the DMV with the stolen bills (opened). If it's not that busy of a day I suggest waiting till another day. Busy days give the basis of the workers simply wanting to get everyone through so they won't check things as thoroughly. Go through the process of getting a drivers license only for the name and age and address and all that info put down your targets. Provided that you pass the drivers test you'll be able to get a drivers license. This means that you now have a legit drivers license with your picture on it with the other people's info. If you get carded and they look at it or scan it or whatever it will come up as a legit license. Some places reference the DMV's picture database with their license registering. This means that when they scan it the picture of the person on the license comes up to make sure that it's not a fake id. Congrats, your picture comes up.

If you simply want a better ID so you can drink and you're under 18 and don't wanna steal all this random crap you can just find a friend who is 21 and go with him/her. When it's time to get their picture taken you go get yours taken instead.

Congratulations. You can successfully STEAL someone's identity. I capitalized steal because if you do get caught you're going to jail for a long time. If you don't get caught you can make credit card transactions as well as other things that require an id, on the other person's tab. Getting their credit card is easy actually, you simply fill out another one of the credit card applications with all of their info on it and none of yours. Check back in their mail for the card starting 3 days afterward because if they get it before you do then you're screwed. If you manage to get it then you'll have to call from their house to activate it. This is simple when you think about it. Tapping into their phone line from the outside circuit with some random phone you bring along with you. Easy.

Novell Network Security

Ok, quick post. All I have to say in this one is about Novell. The highschool I went to had a bunch of computers in it as most did. It worked on a login based setup using Novell's Networking Utilities. Well, there are always backdoors which involve going into the command prompt or restarting and loading up in safe mode with command prompt to bypass the sysadmin password. Thats a long drawn out process that takes about 7 minutes to do and 45 minutes to explain. So I decided to give you a good link to a bunch of Novell Network Hacking Programs which will make your job a much easier one. [Link]

Lighter Overclock

Ok, This is a tribute to Kevin Rose and his ability to overclock every day house hold items. I also put little arrows and circles on the pictures to guide your eyes on what to look at specifically. Granted the arrows and circles are really crappy, but they're there. This isn't the only Item we'll be overclocking in the time that we do this, but it will be one of them. A common lighter

Many people will notice this kind of lighter. There is one specific requirement for this overclock. It must be a lighter that has a control where you can turn up and down the flam size.

Once yo uhave this type of lighter you'll need to take the metal casing off of the top of the lighter by simply applying pressure to the inside in an outward direction.

The metal is weak enough to where it should bend easily. Once you bend the metal outward and take the metal casing off you'll see the control is actually a little black lever hooked onto a cog. Turn the gas all the way up, or to the + side. Then push the lever upward to when you can move it without turning the cog.

*NOTE: don't remove the lever, simply move it upward.

While the lever is able to be moved without moving the cog, move the lever to the side that would normally turn the flame down, or the - side.

Since it didn't turn the cog, it didn't turn the flame down. Now you will push the lever back down to where you can move the cog with it again. Once you can do that turn the flame up again, or to the + side again.
*Repeat this once or twice. Each time you do this the flame will get bigger.

This will turn the flame up a lot, Remember this. Your flame will go from something like this

A crappy inch high flame to this

A hand held flame thrower.

*Note sometimes the liquid will be put out and little fireballs will shoot out. Plus this will use the fluid a lot faster and as with everying that has to deal with flamable gas and fire, theres no gurantee that the lighter will not explode in your hand.

Do you attend High School?

Do you have a pesky sysop with stupid firewalls such as novell that attempts to control everything that goes on within the system?

Well I do too.

Here is a short on how to get programs, such as AIM, to work.

Usually what they'll do is block the default port that messinging programs use. Luckly, AIM makes it easy to bypass this. You can easily fit a version of AIM on a floppy, or your usb thumbdrive, whatever equipment you're working with you can make it work. I'd suggest maybe going for an older version of AIM so that it doesnt take up as much resources [Link]. Once you have the program installed, you'll see a little tab that says SETUP.

Click on that for another dialouge box...somewhere, usually on the first screen, it will give you a list of connection options. Click the little "Connection" button, and you'll see the AIM host, and the port right under it. If you somehow in a sneaky monkey way got the number of a free port, by all means go ahead and change it manually. You could even try going through a differetn Protocol using proxy's if you think you're cool enough. If you are so, here is a list of active proxies. [Link]

But if you're goin take it the easy way, just hit "Auto Configure..." and it will search all the ports for a free one that it can use. The default is 5190.. but I've found that 20 works just as well.

With many plugin's and extensions, you can easily use this as your messenger service.

Social Engineering???

Ok, my last text based post was about social engineering and the trickery of credit card companies. Normally, since we're not that famous, I don't get emails about out site's info. Since this got to the front page of Digg, this site has gotten a little more traffic and one of the things I've noticed is I've gotten a few emails. 2 to be exact. Both were responding to the credit card post. The first was talking about whether or not it's legal to post that on my blog and the other was a question "what is social engineering?" This amazed me...I thought social engineering was a pretty well known thing, but I guess not. The guy said he'd googled it and not gotten any decent working definitions so he asked me. My answer is as Follows:

Social engineering is the search for and use of knowledge. Knowledge is power and Social Engineering Experts know how to use it to hteir advantage. Normally the goal of social engineering is to gain access to something that you're not normally allowed to have access to. The most popular target of such uses of knowledge was AT&T when Kevin Mitnick used it. Today you hear of people stealing identities, credit card numbers, even phone card numbers. I can almost guarantee you that if yours was stolen, you in fact gave it to them personally. Social engineering can be used over the phone, online, or in person. There is no limits on social engineering as it is all encompassing.

Dumpster diving, which is going into the dumpster of a major company looking for information on how they use their technology IE. passwords, security settings, names, phone numbers, and lingo used in the workplace, has been consitered by some as social engineering but I don't believe it is, I believe it's simply collecting knowledge while social engineering is using the knowledge. So, I hope that answered your question.

OK, now for my actual post. Stegnos is a company that makes some decent internet tools. A Hacker Toolkit which give you a bunch of viruses and antiviruses on a cd that you can study as well as several random tools. Internet Anonym is a mass proxy program which also has built in a very nice format program which, just in case the cops come, will destroy everything you have and write over it 32 times. Good tools to just have around. And you've heard of a bootable version of linux such as Slax or KnoppixSTD, buw what about a bootable version of Windows? Yes thats right Bart's PE builder is a nice tool to where you can make your very own bootable windows xp cd that has your custom programs and plugins on it.

Credit report social engineering?

Ok, heres a bit of social engineering for you.

Have you ever wanted someone's credit report? Their whole credit report? Well, working the system can let you have it for free. A few things you should know firse are as follows:

A. If you get turned down for a credit report in the US, you are given all information used to base their decision.
and
B. American Credit companies are stupid.

With that in mind get a credit card application, you can get them just about anywhere. When filling out the info put in the name of the person whos info you wish to get. Now there is only two more things you must do. First you will be going out and getting a random po box that isn't designated to anyone in specific, anonymous is best. On the applications there are two places for addresses, these are for current addresses which is where you put your random po box in, and previous address, which is where you put the current address of the person whos credit you want. This will make the credit card company believe that your victim has recently moved and is applying for a credit card.
*NOTE that is all you put on it.

If you try to put birthdays or random other info it might get approved or it might not be recognised with the companies data. Since there is only a name and address on the application it will be denied and all the person's credit information will be mailed to the new "current address" or better known as your p.o. box.

This is one of the ways people get information to steal identities...now, I'm telling you this as a warning as to how easy it is to be done, not as a guide for stealing identities.

Many of you remember the Ad Blocker that is a plugin for Firefox. Well If you've ever seen .mov videos online of .swf flash files you've seen the ad blocker link pop up for it. Well I'm going to tell you how to get the parent directory for those videos and flash files.

Click the adblock button and there'll be a pop-up with an http address inside it. Copy the entire address then click cancel. If you click ok it will block the video or flash from your browser, and we don't want that. Next enter the address into your browser but leave off the file. If the whole address is "http://www.bob.com/swf/bobsflash.swf" then you'll want to enter "http://www.bob.com/swf" because this will take you to the directory where that flash files is saved to. This is very useful because sometimes you'll find all of the flash files the person has as well as some other documents. Upon doing this to some sites I found and entire movie database as well as a bunch of mp3s that the admin had saved to the directory. Experiment with this because not every site will let you in. Several sites have protection from this....but not all of them.

OK, so I just got done watching another videozine about hacking/cracking/security

This is a link to the glitch, a group of what seems to be highschool kids who give you a little info on random computer stuff.

This is a link to another videozine which seems to be slightly more informative and has better quality sound in the video.

This is a link to a group called The Broken. Much props to these guys because they are simply amazing. With the best quality video as well as the best quality sound, this group, consisting of Kevin Rose and Dan Huard as the main members, gives you the best quality information. I hope that our videozine is as good as this is, but we will be focusing on not such a direct technological point to ours. Hacking is about knowledge...getting the knowledge thats usually a little illegal, but completely worth it.

This isn't so much an informative update as an update about our progress as a group. We don't have an amazing video camera or anything like that so I think we're gonna use Nada's camera to film some video, splice it together, see how it turns out....If it sucks that bad we'll try to get a better camera, but besides that...I don't know what to tell ya.

Apparently MS is going to either buy, or create their own tech tv with all sorts of cool little shows. Hopefully the shows will be given full ability to decide on their programming and still be allowed to talk about Linux and Mac related topics.

So this is the new year...I don't feel any different

Firefox Modifying

Christmas is over and I will start doing audio posts on the weekends because I got a cellphone with free long distance. Ok, we've talked a lot about firefox 1.0 and now I'm gonna tell you how to modify your firefox 1.0 to where it WILL be one of the most useful browsers you'll have.

First the non hands on stuff.

If you have firefox 1.0 clicking here will start the installation of an extention that is very useful in hands on privacy. It hooks a button onto your browser that when clicked clears your history, form info, saved passwords, download history, cookies, and the cache. This is useful if someone is gonna get ahold of it and you wanna hide everything. It's labled Paranoia.

This is a editing extention for Firefox, called Chromedit, which will be useful for future hacks and one of them I'm gonna talk about in this update.

Now the more hands on hacks.

type "about:config" into your address bar(without the quotes) and go there.
This is kind of a debug menu.

If you're on broadband
scroll down till you see "network.http.pipelining"
Once you find this you'll be in the right area. Change the following:
network.http.max-connections
to 64
network.http.max-connections-per-server
to 21
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server
to 8

All of this will speed up your connection immensely. The pipelining will send several requests all at once. The rest increases the ammount of info that'll flow.

I'm not getting into the specifics of what each of these do, it'll just speed you up.

NO MATTER WHAT CONNECTION YOU HAVE, do the following after you do the section for your connection.

You need to right click in the open area and go to new>integer
It'll ask for a name for it...input "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" (without the quotes) as the name. Then it will ask for a value, set this to zero. Thats how long it takes before your browser acts on the information it's recieving.

OK, not what?....For those of you who have GMail, I'm gonna help yo uremove the text ads from it. Remember the Chromedit you downloaded? Well, now we're gonna use it.

*note, you must close firefox completely and restart it to get newly installed extentions working.

Go to tools and click on "Edit User Files." A new window with 5 tabs is gonna show up and you're gonna want to click the tab labled "userContent.css" because this is where we're gonna add stuff. Copy the following code:

#rh div[class="c"] {display: none !important;}

and paste it into the file then click "Save." Remember, just copy and paste it, otherwise you'll fuck something up. I can't promise this hack'll last very long because as Gmail changes so will the base code.

OK, now for the news, SUPRNOVA.ORG, previously a great bit-torrent site shut down, but fear not, they are sandy bastards (we like sandy bastards here) and put out the beta version of their site in an application. eXeem is currently avaliable to 5000 beta testers and will, hopefully, soon be out for us to play with. They are decentralizing the torrent locations while before there were trackers which became very potent targets for the RIAA/MPAA twats.

I talked about Gigabyte producing a dual processing graphics card, well here it is...Imagine 2 of those hooked up through SLI, HOLY SHIT!

Where do you get your news from?

Digg is a new spin on things as sites like slashdot and fark allow users to submit news, the users don't pick what goes on the front page. Not the case with Digg. Users and "dig" news stories and after so many digs it is put on the front page. Since the last post was so big, I thought I'd post just something small this time...and there it is

Sorry mates, the hacking of the start button is gonna have to wait till the next post, we had a question posted.

Ok, first, to uninstall IE(internet explorer) you go to your control pannel which is usually located in the start button. once in there you will look for add/remove programs. Upon opening this up you see a few links on the left and a whole bunch of programs you can uninstall. One of the links on the left says add/remove windows components. In here you'll see the faithless IE symbol with a checkmark next to it. Of course you'll need the install disk while doing this... Anyway, you uncheck the checkmark and continue on with the uninstall. then installing it should be much easier. Put the disk in, go into the add remove section...re-check the place next to it, and install your IE again. There you go, you're done. If the problem persists then I'd check your setting and options...if it continues after that, do a virus and trojan scan. I know, a trojan is a virus but most virus scanners don't pick up all trojans, or even most trojans. So get a good trojan scanner.

hmmm, still a lot of room left for a update...I guess the hacking of the start button is on!

First, you'll need a resource hacker, I have several and they all come in useful. Just go to google and search for a resource hacker.

Next you'll need to fine your windows directory in your C drive or whatever your main drive is. Once in that directory look for explorer.exe and make a copy of it naming the copy (something you'll remember).bak
Now use the resource hacker to open the copy and it should show a few folders. Open the folder named "String Table" and find both folder number 37 and 38. This will take care of both classic and the new mode. Click on 1033 inside each folder, which is basically a little document in the folder, and look for the thing that says "Start." Once you find it you can change it to whatever you want, theres no limit on the number of characters you can use, but remember this is gonna be taking up the taskbar. After you change each one click compile script or whatever there is that similar to it. Now this will change your start button's text AT THE END OF THIS ALL, NOT YET!

While we're still in the string folder we're gonna change the text that pops up when you put your cursor over top of it. Normally it says "click here to begin" well, mine says "click here to start hacking." Click on folder 34 to open it and click on that resource 1033. While in there look for the "Click here to begin" and change that to whatever the hell yo ufeel like. Once again click the compile script thing.

To change the icon so you won't have the crappy windows logo there you're gonna have to leave the "string table" folder and go to the "bitmap" folder. I suggest have a little ass icon premade before you start trying to change the one thats there. It has to be 25 pixels by 20 pixels. Now thats small. but if you have it go to folder 143 in the bitmap folder and click on resource 1033 inside it. Once there you'll see the crappy logo you want to change. Go to the actions menu or if you don't have you look around for a "replace bitmap" button. Select the bitmap you've chosen through "open file with new bitmap."

Ok, now that you've changed everything you want to save it as something like Bob.exe, ot (whatever the hell you want except explorer).exe
YES!! I SAID DON"T SAVE IT AS EXPLORER.EXE

ok, once you have that done you should have explorer.exe, (whatever the hell you want).bak, and (whatever the hell you want).exe

If you don't have those 3, something is wrong.

If you do, then remember the name of your .exe and reboot.
While your pc is booting up you'll be wanting to hit f8 to get the boot prompt up. This will ask you how you want to boot, Choose Save mode with Command Prompt. Log in as the admin of the pc and when the command prompt comes up you will type the fillowing:

cd c:\windows (press enter)
copy c:\windows\(whatever the hell you want).exe c:\windows\explorer.exe (press enter)
yes (press enter)
shutdown -r (press enter and don't be afraid, though that looks like a virus from the past, it's not, thats just the admin restart prompt)
(congratulations, upon restarting your start button should be changed completely. If you fucked up your pc somehow, it's not my problem, your fuckup...haha, and thats what the .bak is for, rename it to .exe and do the same command prompting over with that file instead, it's a default of your old explorer. Ok, the setup I have going on my computer is decent, but nothing special. I'm gonna tell you a few programs I use on a daily basis on here.

First is a program called Winplosion which is a pretty decent program that is good to use if you have a lot of windows open because a feature on it takes every window thats open and shrinks it to fit on the screen. Then you pick which screen you want and it maximises back up to the normal size thus transfering you to this document. Granted yo ucan do the same with alt+tab but if you don't wanna use the energy to touch the keyboard, this is a good tool. I rate it a 5/10

Another program I use is Netlimiter which is really good for controlling your bandwidth. I just wish that there was a way to cut the transfer speed completely rather than just lower it to 1k/sec. Still good, I'd say a 7/10.

I use 2 browsers, Firefox and Deepnet, we've talked about both.

Resource Hacker programs....yea, I know...but hey, somethings just require it. Such as my start button no longer saying start. Nor having the windows logo on it anymore. I'll post a progress that you use to change the start button in the next post I do.

I'm running Windows XP, but I'm thinking of putting together a pc just so I can put Linux on it and piss around.

Never underestimate the power of your Windows Explorer. Theres a reason it's there, it's good stuff, easy to get around, easily browsed.
